Showing at WatchTime IBG 2014: Carl F. Bucherer Manero Tourbillon Limited Edition
WatchTime and noted watch collector and expert Jeff Kingston have teamed up again for the 2014 edition of the popular Inside Basel.Geneva series of collector events, kicking off September 5 in Chicago. Among the core sponsoring watch brands is Carl F. Bucherer, which will showcase its Manero Tourbillon Limited Edition at the events.Carl F. Bucherer has created many complicated watches, including models with power-reserve displays, chronographs, and even a perpetual calendar and the company makes its own manufacture movement, but the Manero Tourbillon Limited Edition is the brand's first tourbillon timepiece. The watch which commemorates the 125th anniversary of founder Carl Friedrich Bucherer opening his first watch and jewelry shop in Lucerne, Switzerland contains the new, hand-wound tourbillon movement, Caliber CFB T1001. A 2008 model year Omega has which 2500 movement? A,B,C,D?
I was looking to purchase a brand new in box Omega 42mm on bracelet at an awesome price. I was wondering if it contains the 2500C, 2500B, or 2500D movement? Are there any particular years that Omega modified the movement? The reason I ask is because I heard the later letter codes after the movement (ex. 2500D) are more reliable and have better technology involved. Thanks!
New versus Pre-owned
I thought I would try to summarise the key benefits and drawbacks of buying a new Patek (new from an AD) versus pre-owned. Obviously only in relation to references that are part of the current range.Benefits:-Price - a significant saving can be made by buying a pre-owned Patek from a private seller or unofficial dealer. This could be in excess of 30%.Availability - for those willing to pay a premium they can find references that are unavailable from AD's. The 5131 J or G is an example. Flexibility - it may be easier to part exchange or trade watches as part of a deal with an unofficial dealer.Service - there are many happy customers on this site that have purchased from one of the well known resellers who have delivered an exceptional level of customer service. DrawbacksNot being the first owner and missing our on the whole AD experience of opening the sealed travel box etc. In addition if the watch has already been registered then your name will not appear on the Patek ownership reg
