Bell & Ross WW1 Collection Launch Party
Bell & Ross recently presented its new WW1 collection at the historic H?tel National des Invalides whose famed Eglise du Dome houses Emperor Napoleon I's tomb. This new collection, which includes a pocket watch (the PW1) as well as the WW1 wristwatch, traces the evolution of timepieces from the pocket to the wrist. Guests had the opportunity to visit the famous Muse de l'Arme and then gathered in a sumptuous ballroom to enjoy exquisite French cuisine and vintage Champagne. After admiring the watches, the guests could stroll along the walkways overlooking the square courtyard of the Invalides to soak up the historic atmosphere. The nearly 300 guests included media personalities, French military officers, political figures and watch aficionados.
On The Block: Three Modern (But Out Of Production) Watches To Consider From Next Week's Antiquorum New York Sale
I am often asked if there are any watches being made today that I would deem collectible in the long run. While the every day answer would be, “no, at least not in the same way that vintage watches are collectible” there are some exceptions. We are in something of a renaissance of watchmaking, with new materials abound, millions of dollars in R&D budgets, amazing technology, and more appetite for mechanical timepieces than ever before. So there are bound to be some watches that we'll look back at and say, "Yup, that was special."Here are three modern watches, all made within the last four years, that I genuinely believe have a chance at being collectible down the road, all for sale in Antiquorum’s sale next week. First AP !
Hi boys ! Very happy to say that I have my first AP on the way, after a few Rolex I finally tried on the silver dial 15400 and I was hooked. Is there anything I need to know ? I'm very used to Rolex being built like tanks I'm just wondering if there's something I should know about. Like Omega's 'don't change the date between 10 and 2'. My mindset with Rolex has been to send for service only when needed, it always ended up being cheaper then just sending it in every 5 years even if something happen to break. I'm talking 10 years or so not 20-30. Should I be more careful with the AP ?What about swimming with the AP ?I'm sure this is mostly dumb questions just rather be safe then sorry.
Navitimer World vs. 01
Looking to see what the major differences are in the Navitimer World vs. Navitimer 01. Am looking at used or new watches and like the silver bands. I think the two two serial numbers are world and the bottom is 01 but what are the differences in these? I think the top three are versions of the world and the bottom is a 01? to polish or not polish
my new-to-me 16570 Polar Explorer II is at RSC right now. looks like it's never been serviced, and i have a quote for some normal service (movement servicing, new crown, timing, etc.) that includes polishing.i've put the question to them about the engraving (not mine), if that can be removed with a polish or if a new caseback is needed.they're awaiting my approval. my inclination is to not do the polish, but i wanted to get some opinions.i'm linking offsite to hi-res photos. i hope these provide enough clarity, and sorry for my poor photography skills.backbracelet9 sidecrown sidefront
