IWC Joins WatchTime for Ingenieur Launch Event at New York Boutique
Last year, IWC Schaffhausen opened its flagship boutique on New York’s Madison Avenue with a celebrity-filled gala. On Tuesday night, the boutique played host to the United States launch of the brand’s re-tooled Ingenieur line of sports watches, co-hosted by IWC and WatchTime. The evening drew more than 50 guests, including watch collectors and diehard fans of the brand, both to experience the boutique’s unique ambiance and to view the new Ingenieur watches, unveiled in Geneva at the SIHH watch fair back in January. ( covered the first of the new models, inspired by the brand’s new partnership with the Mercedes Petronas racing team, the Ingenieuer Chrono Racer. For photos of other watches in the revamped Ingenieur collection, check out Alexander Linz’s SIHH report on IWC at our sister blog, Watch-Insider.)WatchTime editor-in-chief Joe Thompson spoke briefly to the crowd to introduce IWC’s North American president Gianfranco D’Attis, who was rais
Panerai Radiomir 3 Days Platino 47 mm
In the late 1930s, Panerai created a few examples of the Radiomir with a unique dial design. Today, only two examples survive. Why they were created is not known. Their history washed away with the Panerai archive in the Florence flood of 1966. The new Radiomir 3 Days Platino picks up this dial design, which has never before been revived. Find the launch date, wallpaper and pricing inside. The origin of the dial is not easy to identify. According to Panerai, some historians believe the two surviving examples (which differ in that one has a small seconds dial and the other does not) may have been test samples that were never serially produced. The brown dial of the new Radiomir, protected by a Plexiglas crystal, has a minimalist appearance, with alternating bar-shaped and dot hour markers, rather than the characteristic large arabic figures typically found on classic Panerai dials. To ensure excellent legibility, the dial uses Panerai’s traditional sandwich construction in which a

Which one you guys prefer?
After reading much about Panerai models the two models that best suit my preferences are the 312 and 351. Which one you guys prefer? It is difficult because they are almost equal. Are saying?
Has anyone else done a 180 on the Cellini Moonphase (from not to liking it)?
When it first came out, I thought the Moonphase complication, which has always fascinated me (I bought a Seiko Moonphase in the late 80s. It set me back over $200, which was an absolute fortune to me at the time. I still have it) but I thought the Rolex iteration was odd and difficult to read.I searched for guides on how to read it (I had a mental block because it seems so simple now) and finally found what I was looking for...on Rolex the damned user guide they offer as a PDF download! I now absolutely love the watch. I've moved on to appreciating the luxe' design of the hands, for example (I have Rolex sports models, the BLNR and two YMs, one almost 20 years old, the other almost new). Was curious is anyone else had gained appreciation for this stunning watch. I now find the Moonphase complication to be inspired, and beautiful.Pictures are from RolexSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
