At SIHH the Roger Dubuis booth presented a casino look, consistent with the launch of the new men’s collection La Mon��gasque. The piece that best represents the high-stakes gambling theme is the limited edition Chronograph Big Number which sports the classic casino colors black, red and green. The 44mm rose gold case recalls the brand’s popular Sympathie line. Behind the roulette-inspired dial lies the self-winding RD680 movement which has been designed, developed and produced by Manufacture Roger Dubuis. The double-pusher column-wheel chronograph features a central chronograph hand, 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, and small seconds at 9 o'clock. The movement, with 261 parts and 42 jewels, is 6.30mm thick and beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph). AP boutique charges $200 to ship to APSC
So my watch (<1 year old, still under warranty) was losing about 25 seconds per day, and it was driving me nuts. I stopped by the AP boutique in Beverly Hills, CA to have it sent in for adjustment. The sales associate informed me there was a $200 shipping charge (round trip) to have it overnight Fedex'd to Clearwater, FL. I'm trying to figure out if that's a normal charge? Given the watch is under warranty, I would have thought the $200 shipping charge is something AP would absorb. Thoughts?

Interesting convo w/ 10 yr old grandson
Yesterday I was talking about watches w/ my 10 yr old grandson. He said he didn't like the way they feel, but does like FitBits, etc. I talked w/ him about the uber cool engineering aspects of mechanical watches and showed him a video of the 4130 movement. He says wow.... look at all of those tiny parts. I then held up my wrist and commented on merits of a Rolex. He says.. wait, that's a Rolex? Maybe there is hope for the future after all. ;-)
