Richard Mille Donates Rafael Nadal RM 027 to Only Watch Charity Auction
On September 22, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco will preside over the fourth Only Watch auction of exceptional watches. The proceeds of this event, organized by Antiquorum Auctioneers, will be used to fund research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. To support this worthy cause, Richard Mille has contributed a unique and symbolic watch to be offered during this charity auction. Launched in 2005 by Luc Pettavino, President of the Monegasque Association Against Muscular Dystrophies, Only Watch mobilizes the world's most prestigious watchmakers who donate unique and limited pieces to be auctioned during the Monaco Yacht Show. All proceeds are used to fund research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy, an extremely debilitating neuromuscular disease that affects one boy in every 3500.Having supported Only Watch from the beginning, Richard Mille wanted to donate one of its most emblematic creations to Only Watch 2011: the RM 027 tourbillon developed for and in collaboration with Rafael Nadal. Speedmaster "Chocolate" 311.30 with sapphire crystal
Hi all,I always wanted a Speedmaster because of the amazing history of the watch. I know quite a bit about the older Speedys with the hesalite Chrystals. But the newer one with the Sapphire crystals I didn't read that much about. Now there is one for sale locally for around $3000. It has all the papers etc. It looks to be in very nice shape. Do you think that is an ok deal?Do those Chocolate Speedys have a different movement as the regular ones because of the see-through-back?What else was changed in the newer Speedys with sapphire crystal?I was always very reluctant to get a Speedmaster because of the Hesalite Crystal. All the watches I have with plastic crystals scratch like crazy, so sapphire would interest me a lot.If you have a Chocolate Speedy, how do you like it?ThanksHerbert
Incoming White Sky-Dweller
After waiting for three months with 50% down on an AD list, I gave up and pulled the trigger on a BNIB model listed on the classified section here. Very pleased I did. White was my first choice, then while waiting I started looking more closely at the blue one. Glad I stuck to my original choice. Definitely the right one for me! Love the clean, elegant look. This watch SINGS to me. Really enjoy how it changes color, depending on how the light hits it. At times it looks white, silver, and grey. I tried to illustrate this below.
PVC/DLC coating recommendations?
I have a friend who's looking to have a 116710 done in all matte black. Watch head and bracelet. I'm out of the loop on having watches coated, and done a few google searches and haven't come up with anything solid. Any recommendations and or pictures of finished products? I'd like to find a company with a long history and strong reputation, not a fly by night new start, as I think I'm gonna have this done for him for his birthday. With time as a consideration, what's the average turn around time on something like this? Thanks William.
