Black Bay vs PO 8500
I am having a heck of a time trying to decide what my next purchase is going to be. I think I have it narrowed down to a Blue Tudor Black Bay and a Omega Planet Ocean 8500 (both pre-owned). My current collection is as follows:Rolex Sub CBreitling Avenger SeawolfOmega Speedmaster ProBreitling NavitimerOmega Planet Ocean 2500Current grails would be Rolex Exp II 42mm & GMT II BLNR (but those are little out of my price range at the moment)I originally wanted the Black Bay on the fabric strap because I thought it would be different from my other watches. However, I know that I didn't love the snowflake hands at first sight. I think I have somewhat convinced myself to like the Black Bay . However, every time I see pictures of the new 8500 PO, I think Now THAT is a good looking watch. I am torn, though, because I know how similar the 8500 is to the 2500, and in fact people prefer the 2500 for certain reasons. I am not interested in flipping the 2500 (for sentimental reasons), so I am stuc
Friend saw my PP Nautilus. Then asked me - What's so special about this watch?
Good day all!So I borrowed my uncle's PP 5711 Blue Dial nautilus. My friend noticed I wasn't wearing one of my usual watches and asked me about it.He then asked me how much it costs, and was surprised when he learned it was a SS watch, at that price. He didn't deny how beautiful it is of course. Was just surprised one wouldn't go for a full gold or WG Rolex at that price range - especially since there really aren't any complications on it.He then asked me what is so special about this watch ?I am curious how you guys would have answered this question! :)
Why do you love Patek?
I've had a growing interest in Patek Philippe recently. I was wondering why those of you on TRF that have a Patek, love them so dearly?Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated.
unfortunately selling my 233K
As much as I love this watch I have to sell it, It's hard for me being the kind of guy who buys watches to keep them, but unfortunately I fell in love with another watch which is very expensive, a Blancpain, and of course it is quite expensive even though I am getting a great deal with my favorite grey dealer plus detax since I live more than 6 months a year in Ukraine.I never thought I would one day sell some of my watches, I am also selling my Daytona 116515 rose gold with ceramic bezel, which I also love but the Blancpain being also rose gold I don't see myself having 2 gold watches, and anyways don't have the financial capacity to keep it and get the Bancpain, it's a heart breaker but I really fell for it.Has anyone here also had to sell watches that they love but to buy another that they love even more?
New watch as gift - warranty card not in your name = issue?
Short version. I have the opportunity to buy a new SD43 from an AD. They are saving it for VIPs only. One of my friends is a VIP at that AD. The AD is insisting that he purchase the watch with his credit card and gift it to me. In turn, they are also insisting that the warranty card be written up in his name.Something about having a new high end watch with papers in someone else's name is grating on my nerves. Am I being too picky here?
