Rolex Modernizes the Day-Date with a New Size and Caliber
Rolex Day-Date 40 white gold Ref. 228239OverviewOriginally introduced in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date was the last flagship model Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf created, and it is considered to be his ultimate achievement. Also known as the “President’s watch,” the Day-Date has a rich heritage of being worn by presidents, CEOs, visionaries and important leaders around the world. Some might call it the ultimate symbol of prestige, achievement, and success.HistoryIn 1945, Rolex revolutionized calendar legibility with its Datejust, the first wristwatch chronometer to indicate the date in a window at 3 o’clock. The Cyclops lens, invented by Rolex, would be added in 1953 to further facilitate reading of the date. In 1956, with the Day-Date, Wilsdorf perfected the modern calendar by adding the day of the week, spelled out in full, in a window at 12 o’clock on the dial.Rolex Day-Date 40 Everose gold Ref. 228235For the first time on a wristwatch, the day was shown in ful
Tissot PRC 200 Danica Watch Giveaway Winner
This is the Tissot PRC 200 Danica Limited Edition ladies watch that was given away on aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer in March 2012. Thank you to winner Cindy for her follow-up images and thoughts:"It's just the right combination of sporty/feminine for my tastes. I really like the robust, clean design with the big '7' in orange that matches the strap stitching. Also love the diamonds on the dial. I also think that the hefty thickness of the watch is attractive. At first I thought "Wow, that's big" but when I have it on, it doesn't look too large on my arm. I am going to wear this watch proudly!"Thank you again Tissot and Cindy for the follow-up - enjoy the watch. Also thanks to everyone who enters the monthly watch giveaways here on aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer.
there is a special range of diamonds that shapes the iconic Montblanc emblem
Each model sharing in common is very decorated 18 k White Gold set with diamonds in the case including 42 on the bezel, and a mother of the mother-of-Pearl Dial. The automatic Star Lady diamond model has a look of dial cluster. In addition to the "Galaxy" of diamonds, there is a special range of diamonds that shapes the iconic Montblanc emblem. Then, the eternal star Lady Moonphase automatic diamonds is a more traditional use of diamonds used for indicators of an hour more and revolve around the dials.
Prices increase
I have just come to know that in UK Patek will increase prices of 5,5% from September the first. Anybody knows if this increase will be even applied in other countries ? Many thanks
alternative to RSC??
With the problems mentioned in various threads here, about RSC cost and occasional QC failures, are there any private watch repair service experts that have consistent excellent work record at fair or reasonable prices? I've looked into Mark Sirianni and Kelly Haynes for repair, as well as Gray&Sons and Michael Young for bracelet restoration. Any feedback on them, and are there others of quality and reliability? I have an old GMT II two tone that needs overhaul and has a stretched bracelet.
