Christie’s Geneva Auction Achieves Over SFr. 19 Million
Christie’s November 16 Geneva auction set nine world record prices for Patek and Rolex references on the way to achieving the highest total for any watch auction in 2009: SFr. 19,032,388, or just under $19 million. This was nearly twice the pre-sale low estimate. The results reflected sales of 97% by value and 94% by lot. 900 bidders from 5 continents participated in the sale live, online and on the telephone. The top price of SFr. 2,400,000 was paid for a Patek Philippe ref. 1526 perpetual calendar wristwatch. Rounding out the top 5 were a gold 1924 Patek single-button chronograph at SFr. 939,000, a platinum Patek ref. 3448/100 perpetual calendar with moon phases at SFr. 783,000, a pink gold Patek ref. 2438/1 perpetual calendar at SFr. 711,000, and a gold Patek ref. 1579 chronograph at SFr. 675,000. Patek Sky Moon Tourbillon Brings $1.2 Million at Patrizzi Auction
A Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon in yellow gold, Ref. 5002, sold for $1.2 million at the Patrizzi & Co. auction in New York on October 7. This is the highest price paid for a wristwatch at auction since the beginning of the recession. The watch was purchased by a customer in Europe. CEO Osvaldo Patrizzi said “In the current global recession, this $1.2 million sale result is extraordinary. This auction demonstrates that while demand for mid-level watches for collectors is softening, extraordinary, very rare, limited-edition pieces are still in demand and in some occasions increasing in value.” Mr. Patrizzi also noted that aside from the Sky Moon Tourbillon going to Europe, the other top pieces in the sale went to bidders in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. The second highest price was brought by a Patek Philippe Commemorative Minute Repeater, Ref. 5079-010, originally sold December 1, 2004. The yellow gold piece was produced in a limited series of 5 examples for the 50th

Patek scratch crystal
Hi guys,I have the opportunity to buy a pre owned patek watch that has some hairline scratch on bezel and sapphire crystal.I'm not too worried on the bezel since it can be polished for a Low cost. I am worried of the sapphire crystal though.Looked up on servicing on patek website but no mention of replacing crystal cost. Any members have gone through this before? Also how much and how Long did it take.Thank you all for the help
Is it just me with my AD...
I am starting to learn that a lot of people have serious trouble getting SS Subs/GMTs and Daytona watch models. I have no prior with my AD, minus parent history. I emailed him about coming in this weekend to look at YM Rhodium vs SS Sub with date. He said no problem I have them both for you... same AD who let me try on a black/white Daytona (albeit he said it was already sold )...buuuut I think I could convince to sell it to me.My only leverage is that I told him I would buy my girlfriend's engagement ring from him which is still a year plus away...Is this a complete anomaly?
