Bulgari Unveils First of 3 Commedia del’Arte Minute Repeater Watches
Bulgari, a watch brand with its roots in Rome, pays tribute to Italy’s theatrical history with a trio of limited-edition minute repeater watches called Commedia del’Arte, all with automaton dials. The first in the collection, introduced at Baselworld 2013, is called Brighella. The Bulgari Commedia del’Arte watches, each limited to only eight pieces each, are distinguished by their highly complicated movements and intricately crafted dials, with tiny moving figures, set against lavishly painted and engraved backgrounds. The watches’ theme, and the collection’s name, is derived from 16th century Commedia del’Arte, a nomadic, improvisational style of street theater staged by masked performers. The three famous masked characters depicted on the watches are Brighella (the first and only model released thus far), Pulcinella, and Harlequin. The dials’ backgrounds depict contemporary Italian palaces with either a Venetian, Bolognese, or Neapolitan decor.
Porsche Design 1919 Datetimer Series 1 & 1919 Globetimer Series 1 Watches
Porsche Design is releasing their new 1919 collection, which will introduce the Porsche Design 1919 Datetimer Series 1 and the Porsche Design 1919 Globetimer Series 1 watches. The 1919 collection is Porsche Design's homage to the Bauhaus movement. For those not familiar, the Bauhaus movement placed great importance on the concepts of simplicity and functionality in design. Though it's a little early for the centenary celebration of the movement (that will be in 2019, if you couldn't guess by the name of the collection), Porsche Design has unveiled the two watches in this collection. What's interesting, though, is the fact that this is the kind statement that Porsche Design is choosing to make after their relationship with Eterna came to an end about a year and a half ago. Since then, they released the Timepiece No. 1, the name of which made clear that Porsche Design was?ushering in a new beginning for the brand. Now, they're not going in-house (in fact, they're using two different Sell
Happy Perpetual Calendar Day: Hands-On With The New Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Cylindrique Quantieme Perptuel
Today is March 1st, also known as the day the world's?perpetual calendar owners get to show off their goods. So, in celebration of this, we're showing you one of the slickest perpetuals to be introduced in 2015 so far.JLC had another really strong showing at SIHH 2015, balancing the classic with the incredible. Leaning?more on the side of the latter is this beauty, dubbed the Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Cylindrique ?Quantieme Perpetual-brevity has never been a strength of Jaeger-LeCoultre. Name aside, this watch has a lot to offer both for the gear-heads and those who?simply appreciate pure beauty. And, this watch is packing way more than you might imagine even at first glance. 2 OF 6 The most striking characteristic of this new watch is indeed the granular blue dial, mimicking the celestial canopy. This sets the tone for the entire timepiece, which, you'll notice at 3 o'clock, displays a perpetual moon phase. This is connected to the clever perpetual calendar sys
Crazy thought?
There are a few watches that keep singing to me, one of which is the 5235g. However, I still really love my 5712/1a (my first Patek, which has some meaning to me) and find my 5167ss to be extremely comfortable and versatile. With that in mind, and in keeping with the a smaller collection is better trend (for some, not all! --- and for what it's worth, I'm on that bandwagon as I just sold my JLC AMVOX5 and BP 50 Fathoms Aqua Lung edition, so I'm down to 4 watches): What are your thoughts about trading a 5712/1a and a 5167ss for a 5235g? There may be some $$ owed/received after the trade (?)... The other watches in the collection are a SDc and a Date Just (stainless, circa 2006), of which the latter really doesn't get much wrist time, but has sentimental value so it's a keeper. Appreciate your feedback.
Pam 512
Hey guys, I'm new to the panerai forum, and was looking for some help. In the past, I wasn't very interested in panerai, as most models I had seen were too big and/or too thick for my taste. However, I came across the 512 online, and was curious if others either purchased or tried on that reference, and what sort of impressions you had. Sports watches I have or had include a pp 5711, pp 5167, omega speedmaster, daytona 16520, gmt 1675, exp 16570, etc, so any comparison in reference to those pieces could be helpful.
