Panerai 8-Day Power Reserve Caliber P.5000 Debuts in New Luminor Watches
Officine Panerai’s rapid rise to manufacture status continues with its release of yet another in-house movement, Calibre P.5000, a manual-wound movement with an eight-day power reserve. The new caliber makes its debut in a pair of new watches, the Luminor Marina 8 Days and Luminor Marina 8 Days Oro Rosso. While an eight-day power reserve is rare in wristwatches these days, it has been a part of Panerai’s history: the first watches that the brand created for Italian naval commandos had an eight-day power reserve, a requirement at the time for a unit that needed its timepieces to run reliably for long military operations. Between the end of the 1940s and early 1950s, Panerai, which originated in Florence, used a 16-ligne, manual-wound Angelus movement that met these criteria. The structure of Panerai’s new Caliber P.5000 echoes those of movements from that era, in which the mechanism was contained between two plates, which concealed most of the wheels and allowed only a f
Audemars Piguet Openworked Extra-Thin Royal Oak Limited Edition Watch
Now here is a watch that is going to be a pain for people to buy who want one. Little guys like this get wooed over when announced, a year or so seems to go by before any are actually released for sale, and then the wars begin about availability because they are so limited. With just 40 pieces to be available, expect a small fraction of that number to find their way into the United States. This is the Audemars Piguet Openworked Extra-Thin Royal Oak Limited Edition 40th Anniversary watch (ref. 15203PT.OO.1240PT.01) with a beautiful skeletonized movement and platinum case. Happy 40th anniversary Royal Oak (1972-2012).About two years ago Audemars Piguet released a watch that for me was the predecessor to this timepiece. It was the Royal Oak Skeleton watch that I discussed hands-on here. A very cool watch, the Royal Oak Skeleton was offered in steel and rose gold. It was highly esteemed and hard to get. Price was from about $30k - $45k. Now there is a much more limited and much more exclus

Need help with an Omega...if anyone here knows... :)
I am trying to buy one and can use some help... :)It's a beautiful 1950's 14k Solid gold Omega. Seller says case, chain and movement everything is original. Both case and bracelet is solid 14k. I am yet to examine it. He claims it's all original heirloom and has never been restored. Movement has an omega symbol with 820 written under it. It also says Omega watch swiss, adjusted to 9 positions, 17 jewels. It's a manual wind. Movement seems it needs some cleaning. I am trying to figure what should be a fair price for it...any help or guidance will be appreciated... :)
Tried Wearing A Different Watch Today
Today, I decided to try out my SMP 2531.80 on a blue alligator strap with an Omega deployment. Got the bracelet off eventually and put the alligator strap on, wore the watch for 10minutes and then put it back in its box and put my SMPC 2594.52.00 back on. Brian
