Christie’s 2012 First-Half Results Shows Boost in Fine and Rare Watch Sales
Much of the world’s economy may still be in the doldrums, but the secondary market for fine timepieces appears to be in good health. Christie's, the world's leading auction house, recently reported a boost in global sales for fine, rare and unique watches. Pointing to rare timepieces as a sound investment, Christie's posted a five percent increase in revenue from watch sales alone, topping off the first half of 2012 at $62.9 million.? Of its top 10 watch sales of the first half of 2012, Christie’s reports that half shattered major auction records to date. Several of these milestone timepieces were from Patek Philippe, including two pieces one a wristwatch and the other a pocketwatch that depict a map of the North American continent on their cloisonn enamel dials. The pocketwatch (Lot 1388_87, Patek Philippe Reference 605) is an 18k gold keyless watch, 44 mm in diameter, containing mechanical Caliber 17”’170, with 18 jewels. It has applied gold baton and dot
AP Emergency, please help
Well friends, it's official, I have lost the love for AP. In the last 3 months, I have sold:Rubberclad black57th StreetGentleman DriverNovelty RoseLegacyGP Rose GoldBB (to be fair sold some time ago),and the Novelty Platinum is on sale currently. This will leave me with zero APs.I am looking for inspiration to get me feeling the love again. The Tourbillon RG/Carbon ROO is a possibility. Other ideas? Please bear in mind it must be at least 44mm.Help please! Therapy may be an option too.
AP 15400 to the service centre
Right side of the deployant push piece fell off.I did not know when and I did not know how.The watch have been sent back to my AD which will send it to the service centre.Might take a month... sigh...Realized it today when the clasp push piece start digging into my wrist making it feel uncomfortable. The push piece for the left side is still intact but I am asking them to apply more loctite or whatever that they do to tighten it up so that it will not suffer the same fate as the right sided sibling.Yeah I am abit disappointed but will wait till everything is done and will reserve comments of the overall experience til then.
My new toy :)
Hello there I have inherited a few omegas from my father. Somehow I was always a rolex guy well until now I have never really paid attention to omega models other than the constellation series. Frankly I have no idea what I just bought and it was a total impulse decision. Saw this day date speedy first time while just browsing the boutique. Before I could realise I was out of the boutique with it in less than 30 mins! I hope more knowledgeable members would chime in more details of this watch. Its by far the most busiest mechanical watch in my collection and I got really bowled over by the sheer complications in it. I tried searching the net for this reference speedy but with no luck, even in here I couldnt find more info regarding it, seems like an underated omega. I usually love to research my watches well before I buy them. I plan to wear this one only once I understand it well to truly appreciate it. Till then enjoy the photos.
