Omega Planet Ocean Newbie Questions
Hi guys,I have really started to take an interest in the Omega Planet Ocean line and I am finding all of the different models a bit confusing to organize in my head. I am sure I could research it, but sometimes it is better to ask the experts:)I am also coming from the Rolex world, where other than the LVc, the SS Submariner (option-wise) is much like the Model T...you can have any color and bracelet option you want as long as it is black on oyster. Here is what I have gathered so far... (Models Currently in Production)1. There are two possible movements: 2500 or 8500, but does the movement determine the bezel material? It seems like 2500 is an aluminum bezel, but 8500 is a ceramic bezel (but not necessarily liquid metal).2. INCOMING... Limited Edition 1 of 5 (So I've been told)
I don't want to use the word grail because IMO that is reserved for an unattainable piece but throughout my short 10 years of collecting watches I think this piece may be very hard to top for Me. It was through dumb luck and daily EXCESSIVE reading of the forums that I came across the availability of this piece. Many, many, Thanks to my friend KarlS for putting me in touch with his AD. If it was not for him there is no way I would've obtained this beauty as it was sitting in an ADs safe sealed and unknown to most. To my knowledge they only made 5 of these pieces. Last year at the London Exhibition Patek re-released several retired models (5970-3970-5070-5050-5059-3940) in very small quantities. NOS movements and cases were used and never before seen dials were made for them. .salonqp/updates/watch...on-exhibition/ I always wanted a Patek Salmon Dial and when I read about these pieces on display at the Saatchi Gallery in London over a year ago I was just in awe but figured there
Question: any difference between strap for tang buckle and for deployant clasp?
When I had a strap replaced at HSWA recently Tracey noted that the deployant clasp was not on a strap for the deployant. But then I guess it still works - buckle or deployant. She gave me a proper strap. What's the difference? Just length in general? Yes, I should have asked Tracey while I was there...
