Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends March 27, 2015
It's that time of the year again, and I am, of course, referring to Baselworld. Baselworld is arguably the single most important watch fair of the year, a showcase for brands to present their newest releases and designs. This year proved to be an interesting and exciting one, and most brands did not disappoint with their new releases. Perhaps two of the most talked about new watches came from Rolex and Patek Philippe. For Rolex, we saw two new Everose gold Yacht-Master watches that are offered?with a rubber straps. These are the first watches to come from Rolex?with a rubber strap. And from Patek Philippe, we have the very peculiar new Calatrava Pilot Travel Time. To kick off this round-up, let's take a look at some of the most popular and talked about watches that we saw at Baselworld 2015.Baselworld news aside, we also have an interesting story to share about Jose Mourinho and his watches. If you are a big fan of soccer or football - as it is known outside of the United States - then
Sotheby's Hong Kong Announces Highlights From The Upcoming October Sale With A Rare Vintage Pate
Sotheby's Hong Kong has just announced the highlights from their upcoming sale on October 6th. The sale will consist of 420 lots with an estimate exceeding 86 million HKD ($11 million US). The sale consists of a range of pieces from all the major watch brands with a spattering of jeweled pieces, modern wristwatches, and vintage pieces. BUT the most exciting part of the sale is the vintage Patek Philippe Reference 2523 World-Time with dual-crown. 1 OF 2 Leading the pack is an incredibly cool Patek Philippe Reference 2523/1 Yellow Gold World Time Wristwatch with 24-hour indication and double crown, made in 1968 with an estimate of 4 to 5.5 million HKD ( $510,000 to $710,000 US). The reference 2523 was an extension of Louis Cottier's famous world-time design (invented in 1931) but with a new two-crown design that was launched in 1953. This example, a 2523-1, features a guilloché dial that is part of a limited production of 20. This watch is fresh to the market
Which ROO to choose?
New to this forum and this is my 1st post :)I currently have Sub-C, GMT II (The Batman) and Speedmaster MOTM. Now I am looking for something totally different and have been eying on AP. All my current watches are 40-42mm with black dial. I really like RO, but would like to have one bigger watch for versatile use.Current options are:* Navy 42mm* Rose gold 42mm* Ceramic silver dial 44mmCeramic ROO is 44mm and I wonder if it would be too big for me? I have 7 (178mm) wrist and I am 5.9 & 175 lbs. I haven't tried any of these options on before and of course will do that before buying. I have once tried 46mm Navitimer with a leather strap and it did not feel too large for me. I also have a 50mm Suunto (16mm thick) and wear it comfortably during my workouts. Of course it is a light watch, so comparing it directly to ROO might not be feasible.Lets assume watches are pre-owned around the same price point. I really like all three options, so advice would be highly appreciated :)What do you g
