The Jaquet Droz Only Watch ’09
The Jaquet Droz Only Watch ’09, a unique Grande Seconde, combines a Grand Feu enamelled dial created using an 18th century technique with a case made of 21st century high tech ceramic. This unique timepiece proudly displays a rare red dial – red being the color of Monaco, the home of Only Watch. Creating the red dial required all the know-how of the most skilled craftsmen. An ivory colored enamel dial needs about ten layers to achieve the right color, and each layer must be fired at 800. Black requires 15 layers and 15 firings, and blue 19. Red needs 22 layers. Each layer requires a new firing, and each firing creates the risk of breakage, bubbling, or both.Manuel Emch, CEO of Jaquet Droz, says it took the company 6 years to find a way to stabilize the red dial. “It is the first time we have created a completely red enameled dial and, given the complexity, it is probably the last, says Mr. Emch with a smile.Only Watch is an auction held every two years in Monaco.

Size comparison of Aqua Terra models vs Rolex EXP II 42mm
Hi AllThanks for taking the time to read. My one current high end watch is a Rolex EXP II 42mm which I love. I am really taken with the Aqua Terra models and want one of these to be my next hard earned purchase. Unfortunately due to my location and work shift pattern I won't be able to travel to an AD for almost a month, so I wondered if anyone had any comparison shots of these watches (both 41.5mm and 43mm models) and how they compare size-wise to a 42mm explorer. Any feedback from owners would be very much appreciated.Tho model that sings to me most from pictures is the day-date with blue face which is a 41.5mm. But they all look nice really CheersSte
Tomorrow!!!!!
My ad called to tell me my grail has arrived. Picking up my 5712/1a tomorrow. Not sure I will be able to sleep tonight. You can bet I will be posting pics ASAP.
372 stopped working!
I was winding my 372, as I do each AM, when suddenly I could feel the crown rotating really fast in the opposite direction (against the winding direction)...I flipped the watch over and could see the balance wheel spinning like crazy and then it slowed, and finally stopped. Now when I wind the watch nothing happens...I turn the crown and then then it just turns itself back and the watch won't stop...
