Watches NEWS
So ROC or ROO
So as when I was pretty sure I'm getting my greytheme roo I went to the AD and happen to see this ROC it was stunning. It is different to the roo definitely but price wise I'm offered a similar price (almost the same) I like the Roo a bit more but the bracelet on the roc got me thinking about getting a bit more bang for the buck and wondering if the roc would hold it value better? 1950s (we think) Omega - can anyone tell me anything from this picture?
Hi, This watch belonged to my friend's grandfather. He was a joiner and wore it every day of his long career, hence the scratches etc. As far as we know the lens, case, crown etc are all original. Sadly, for reasons known only to her, before passing it on to my friend a few years ago, his mother saw fit to dispose of the both the original box AND receipt!!! Compounding matters further, she put a very cheap and nasty strap on it, and disposed of what was presumed to be the original by its battered state! I know, I know..... the mind boggles.Anyway, the watch now belongs to my friend, and as he no longer has the receipt and box etc would like to know something, anything about it. I can probably get some more photos from him, but for now this is all he has sent me.Anyone?
Aquanaut 5167 bracelet

Will the Jack Nicklaus Day Date fetch more than the Paul Newman Daytona
Would love to get your thoughts. Here is a clip of the news story posted on Barron's website. On Thursday, a three-colored Rolex Daytona that the late Paul Newman owned for roughly 15 years was sold for $17.8 million, a record-breaking price for a wristwatch at auction. So what's the next watch owned by an icon that could fetch millions of dollars?Industry observers are casting an eye at Jack Nicklaus' gold Rolex Day-Date, a watch the retired golfer has worn since he received it in 1967.Nicklaus has stated that he plans to sell the watch at auction, with the proceeds going to his favorite charity, the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation. The foundation, which Nicklaus started in 2004, provides families with access to world-class pediatric health care.
