Ochs Und Junior New Colors And Names For Watches
New patinated dial and handsTwo news items from watch maker ochs und junior - a new moonphase look and a sweeping rename of the models. Since it's brief, we will deal with the rename first. Previously, their watches had evocative names like 'Selene' for moon phase, which probably caused confusion. The line is now renamed according to what they're calling 'time horizons.'Very prosaic and practical. Should make it easier to shop their collection. The other news is the new dial on the moon phase, seen above. The new dial is brass, patinated using a sculpture restoration technique that turns it dark grey. Once that's done, they mill out the indices, moon and date dot to reveal the brass beneath. The hands are also brass, satinized instead of patina finsihed, with a hand-painted second hand. Gotta love that attention to detail. And of course, part of the appeal of the moon phase is the mechanism. Only five parts, and the most accurate in a watch. You can get the full details in my review here.
Dievas Vortex Diver Watch
There is literally a long laundry list of positive points about this watch. I rarely do this, but I pasted below words directly from Dievas on this new Vortex watch because I think they did a good job at summing the watch up. A lot to like here. Not the most original watch around, but that is not Dievas' style. They prefer to pick and choose from popular themes and come up with nice mixtures. The Vortex is a combo between a dive and aviator watch. It also takes from certain popular German functional watches like Sinn. Actually the Vortex is all made in Germany, which is not the case for all Dievas watches.Seeing the Vortex watch I instantly want it. The style is right up my ally, and then I look at all the features and I get excited. Swiss movement, high grade titanium case, nice 44mm wide size, 500 meters of water resistance, and all the the rest of the detail below are nice to see. Priced at under $1000 and you've got something seriously worth looking at. It should be available in th
Multiple waiting lists or Not?
I want to buy a 5711 1A 011 (white) from an AD... This will be my first Patek, so I don't have a relationship with an AD. Are there any cons for getting on multiple waiting lists?Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Radiomir help please
Looking for some knowledge on the Panerai Radiomir if you can help.Seriously considering buying a Radiomir and would like one that best compliments my Luminor 005 Base. However, I'm lost with all the model numbers past and present. Hoping someone can help. What I'm looking for (don't know if it was even made) is a straight plain dial hours/minutes only, solid caseback, ETA based movement, and I prefer a sausage dial to a sandwich.I've found the 210 and 380, but neither has everything I'm looking for, but they are close. Is there a Radiomir model out there like this? Also I have a dozen or more straps for my 005 - even though I understand the Radiomir straps are tapered would any of my existing straps work in a pinch? I kinda think they might not with the Radiomir wire bars and stainless tubes in my existing straps.Appreciate any assistance and thanks!
The Panerai look......Why sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees.
I must confess, for years I couldn't see any appeal of the Panetai style. They looked too plain and that strange Luminor crown lock. I was wearing mainly Rolex and dive watches with turntable bezels or three dial chronographs. Fast forward 10 years and one day I saw the Panerai on the silver screen and thought that design was really functional looking and not too bad. In fact, that dial was so simply clean, almost like a minimalist painting. The less is more couldn't ring more true. It was like the first time when you understood what art could be. A few years went by and Rolex was releasing more busy dials with gratuitous wording every where they could put it. Breitling was even worse. They looked busy and cluttered up like a billboard. That's when I had a moment of clarity and remembered that Panerai on the silver screen. I actually dug out the old Eraser DVD to view the watch on my 70 flat screen. Pausing the watch, I studied the design and thought it was pure genius
