WATCH WINNER REVIEW: Minus-8 Layer
We thank Michael K. for his pictures and watch winner review after being the lucky recipient of the Minus-8 Layer watch our October 2014 watch giveaway.? Don't forget to enter this month for a chance to win a Maurice Lacroix Pontos S dive watch here. The Minus-8 Layer is not a watch I would have normally picked, so I decided to use the generous opportunity provided by Mr. Ariel Adams, watches-dealer, and Ms. Natalia Daniel (a delightful woman with PCH/MINUS-8), to take a leap. I've been intrigued by blackout dials for some time, but always wondered about reading the things, and the Minus-8 Layer seemed to have an edge. When I set it in my watch box amongst the divers, retro Russians, and MIP-PRF roughnecks, I was reminded of a line from Mel Brooks' classic Blazing Saddles: What's a sophisticated urbanite like you doing in a place like this? It's sleek and retro/future in a cool Blade Runner sort of way. An obvious eye for detail and design went into this. It's got a solid if unpretenti
Introducing Russia's Konstantin Chaykin And His Unique Cinema Watch
Konstantin Chaykin is quite a rare bird in the world of independent horology, in that he works outside of Switzerland. Chaykin is the only Russian member of the?Acadmie Horlogere des Crateurs Indpendants (ACHI), the professional body for independent watchmakers that counts the likes of Philippe Dufour and Kari Voutilainen?as members. Here is a first look at the Cinema watch, housing a nineteenth-century style mechanical animation. The Cinema was released earlier this year at Basel World. It is called the Cinema because of its unique complication, which simulates an early style of mechanical animation. The aperture at 6 o'clock reveals an animation of a horse running. This animation is based upon the Zoopraxiscope, a seminal invention in the early days of cinema invented by English photographer Eadward Muybridge in 1879. The Zoopraxiscope sh
Good Afternoon Breitling People
I'm a vintage Rolex guy and I'm reaching out to you with the ever-popular my buddy has a watch and wants to know if it's real thread.I know a few tricks to attempt to authenticate with the two attached pics, but I flat-out struck out...I can't even find any with reference to this limited edition batch (supposedly he has 99 out of 200). What do y'all think? I appreciate the help.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
5713 running 4 to 5 seconds fast per day
I've had my 5712 nearly a year. Over the past couple of weeks I've monitored accuracy of the timepiece. It seems like it's running 4 to 5 seconds fast per day. As I go into my last year of Factory Warranty, should I consider getting this corrected before warranty is expired? Thanks
Anti reflective coating on Rolex
Just watched a video comparing omega seas master to a submariner. The AR coating on the Seamaster is amazing. Why does Rolex not wanna implement this?
