Carl F. Bucherer Patravi TravelTec in Black
Carl F. Bucherer’s triple-time-zone chronograph watch, the TravelTec, gets a matte-black makeover at Baselworld 2016. Previously available in steel and rose-gold variations, the newest version of the Carl F. Bucherer Patrvai TravelTec features a scratch-resistant black DLC coating. The wafer-thin but exceptionally durable DLC (diamond-like carbon) finish on the TravelTec is applied in a multi-stage process, enhancing both the scratch-resistance and shock absorption of the 46.6-mm stainless steel case as well as the stainless steel bracelet (which is outfitted with a black DLC-coated folding clasp). The dark, monotone look echoes that of the black dial, which displays three time zones simultaneously, the third by means of a central red hand pointing to a rotating 24-hour scale on the dial’s flange. In addition to the two chronograph pushers on the right side of the case, the watch features a monopusher at 10 o’clock that enables the wearer to set the third time zone in
Romain Jerome’s Latest Features DNA From the Statue of Liberty
It’s been 125 years since the Statue of Liberty a gift from the French to the United States to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence was first erected in New York Harbor. To commemorate the occasion, Romain Jerome has created a new watch, called Liberty DNA, whose dial contains actual fragments of the statue. The eight-year-old Swiss brand, based in Geneva, collaborated with The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to raising funds for restoration of the Statue and Ellis Island, and the Gold Leaf Corporation, which oversees the preservation and use of historic Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island artifacts, in developing the new timepiece, the latest in its “DNA of Famous Legends” portfolio. Issued in a limited edition of 125 pieces, the watch features a bronze bezel with 12 “spikes” reminiscent of those on Lady Liberty’s crown. Over time, the bezel will acquire a patina much lik
The Value Proposition: The Amazing, Incredible, And Semi-Affordable, Atmos Clock From Jaeger-LeCoult
As the current new guy at HODINKEE, it gives me no small pleasure to introduce – I should say, re-introduce – an old reader favorite: The Value Proposition. It’s been on hiatus for some time but you’ve asked us repeatedly to bring it back, and we listened. In Value Proposition we bring you a look at some of horology’s biggest and best bang-for-the-buck – timepieces that, in a world where price increases have for over a decade shut more and more out of enjoying mechanical horology, really over deliver in the value department. In general this means things in the under $10,000 category but at the same time, you might see us occasionally cover something like, say, a $15,000 minute repeater that sounds as nice as a $300,000 chiming complication, which seems unlikely, but hey, if it exists, you’ll read about it here first.Today, let’s talk about the Atmos clock, from Jaeger-LeCoultre. The Atmos is nothing more nor less than one of the absolute c
50Th anniversary Omega Speedmaster
Hello everyone I'm new to TRF and have a question:I have a Omega 50TH Anniversary Limited Edition number 0329/5957 in excellent condition without B&P. I purchesed it pre-owned from an authorized Omega dealer. What do you think its worth if I wanted to re-sell?. I tried to post a picture but I can because I have not posted 16 post yet. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks Rick.
Dating a vintage Omega
I read somewhere that if you send your vintage Omega to Bienne for a service they will return the watch with a report on date of build, sale date etc,is this true?if so, is it possible to get this info without sending the watch to Bienne,I have seen the Omega dates lists around but I beleive they could be out +/- a year or two,or are these date lists about as near as I'm likely to get to knowing the date of my watch? cheers
