What do people think about Audemars Piguet?
I think I have two types of watches I love. One is of course Rolex but the other I've found out recently I love are Audemars Piguet (the ROO to be more specific). The design of the bezel seems not only rugged but elegant at the same time and I just love the ones with rubber or leather bracelet. They have a special touch to them. Just wanted to see what others think about it.
Incoming ;-)
Hi fellow Trf-membersA lot of advice, watch-surfing, a little enabling and not a lot of common sense ;-) has finally let me in the direction of my first Patek. Had a trip to Rome, Italy, planed with my two children and by chance I found a mint unworn 5711 blue dial in a shop in Rome I know from before. It's a short flight from Denmark and I go there a couple of times a year to relax, sightsee and enjoy the Roman cuisine ;-)This spring I picked up my first PM watch (116718LN) in Rome so it has been a nice watch-year for me ;-)Tomorrow we are flying to Rome and I'll pickup my new watch in the afternoon if all goes by plan. I have an option on a 5712 but I'm pretty confident that I will be posting pics of a 5711 in the Roman sun tomorrow ;-)Thank for the advice, guidance and not least patience. RegardsAlexander Ps. Feel free posting a picture or two ;-)RegardsAlexander116718LN GN, 116600, 116200, 116610LV
Patek reliability.....
Gentlemen, below is the thread I started over on the AP forum.... I look forward to hearing your views. Thanks.I am looking at getting my collection of Rolex down from 6 to 2 or 3, and then entering the rarified world of AP and PP. I'm liking the 15400 and the ROC, and also the PP 5167 and 5164.It may be my imagination, but I seem to read an awful lot about AP having serious problems of reliability. We don't appear to see the same thing over on the PP forum.Any comments from you knowledgable Gentlemen?
New Arrival - Blue 5711
I actually got the call from my AD in late December that a nautilus had come in - and a full 15 months earlier than their original estimate. Finally getting around to posting some pics. This has pretty much immediately become my favorite watch, though I plan to do an update in 6 months to revisit this statement.Anyway, I'm not sure what I can say that hasn't already been discussed at length on this forum - the dial is a beautiful blue that changes in different lighting, the bracelet is incredibly comfortable, and the thinness of the watch really makes it easy to wear. In my humble opinion, it's close to perfect.
Finally bought my first Patek - 5980/1a-001
Hi Guys, This is my first post on this forum. I have always admired and wanted one of two Patek's but pulling the trigger was difficult as they all were double what my first home cost when I got married in 1969!! Yes, I am a 65 year old man with about 45 watches but no Pateks. Last week I was at my local AD's and looking over his substantial assortment in the case and the owner looked at me and asked if I was ready to spring for one? He took out of the safe a 5980/1a-001 that was unworn. One of his regular watch fanatics had bought it a year ago and never worn it but decided he was interetsed in something less casual. I stood at the counter and held it, looked at it and said how much? He gave me a price I could not refuse so I wrote the check and walked out with it in the box safe and sound. The next hurdle was getting it into the house without seeing Mt. Vesuvious erupt! I kept it in the office safe over the weekend. On Sunday I packed up about 20 watches to post for sale and h
