Breitling Cosmonaute Limited Edition
The year was 1962. The space race was well under way, and as a supplier to civilian and military aviation, Breitling took a keen interest in this new adventure. Using the Navitimer chronograph as a base, the brand’s technicians developed the Cosmonaute, a space-going version of this instrument indicating the daily 24 hours in a single sweep of the dial. This configuration prevented confusion between midday and midnight. On May 24, 1962, astronaut Scott Carpenter tested this instrument under real-life conditions during his orbital flight aboard the Aurora 7 capsule. For its 125th anniversary, Breitling is issuing a limited series of the model that became the first wrist chronograph in space. Only 1,000 of these Cosmonaute watches will be produced, all equipped with an original version of the 24-hour dial. Reflecting its character as a 1960s design icon, the Cosmonaute Limited Edition is fitted exclusively with the rigid perforated Air Racer bracelet. The Cosmonaute Limited Edition
The new Cartier watch is coupled with a black alligator leather strap
The highlight of the dial is the tourbillon mechanism, presented in its lower part. Due to its special complicated construction, the tourbillon carriage seems to "fly" above the dial. The new Cartier watch is coupled with a black alligator leather strap.
In-Depth: Four Complicated Rolex Models From The Past That Deserve To Be Made Again, As Seen In The Phillips Geneva Watch Auction Two
The longer one spends around the watch collecting world, the more one tends to be interested in early watches – typically those that pre-date the "modern era." What I mean by that is there is a clear division with many brands – Rolex, Omega, and Heuer, for example, all began naming watch lines in the 1950s and '60s: the Submariner, Speedmaster, Carrera, et al. But, the watches that came before these great lines of horology existed are fascinating not only because of their relative obscurity, but also because of their purity in design. In this story, I examine four watches all available in Phillips' Geneva Watch Auction Two that were made by Rolex, and they're all complicated. But, none of them fall under the category of a Submariner, GMT, Daytona, or Explorer. And there is real beauty in that. Pepsi in WG and SS - why?
Seems strange for Rolex to offer the Pepsi in both metals. I get the different dials and braclet but this seems odd to me. Thoughts?
Repair for ceramic bezel inserts?
Hi guys, does anyone know of any watch makers that repair ceramic bezels?I dropped my Submariner on a tiled surface some time ago and have my ceramic insert that was broken into 3-4 pieces stored away.It has now been replaced, but I was wondering if there is any method that could repair it in case my current one cracks?
