Watch Insider Previews the Jaquet Droz Perpetual Calendar clipse
The new Perpetual Calendar clipse by Jaquet Droz, available in two dial colors, showcases the brand’s distinctive moon-phase display. In this article from my blog, Watch-Insider, I list the attributes of this new timepiece, which is crafted in Jaquet Droz’s ancestral home of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The clipse collection includes some of Jaquet Droz’s most elegant timepieces. (Click here to see my article about the Eclipse Mother-of-Pearl and Eclipse Ivory Enamel, introduced earlier this year.)This new model pairs the Jaquet Droz moon-phase complication which displays the lunar cycles by means of a round index that passes over the moon, blocking part or all of it from sight with a perpetual calendar. On the black or ivory-colored grand feu enamel dial, two straight hands contrast sharply with the curves of two wavy hands, each of the latter tipped with a crescent moon. The calendar information is easy to read on several places on the dial: on the right you

5970r - Some gratuitous pics....
Was in my dad's house today, so decided to try on his exquisite 5970, which I will inherit and my son will inherit after me.I'm so attached to this watch it's unreal.Enjoy and apologies, I didn't have my good camera so had to settle for the iphone Paul
I fancy a different kind of Panerai
When Mrs Van D is away, a naughty Ruud will play. I would love one of these on my desk, I mean who wouldn’t? An absolute complete, utter waste of money but, and it’s a huge but with a capital B, they’ve just had a price adjustment. Yep, against the current trend of increases, these babies have dropped by about 40% and they’re down to S$4,300 (2,350 US$3,170). Alas, Mrs Van D has put the blockers on a purchase. If she comes out to Singapore in four weeks and finds one of these in the house then she’ll pull down my Alan’s and grab my Jacob’s and drag them over my head! The California dial is my favourite (651, I think). So, worth the risk?
My wife wants to know......
How many watches do I need?My father gave me my first Rolex (Gold DD36mm) when I graduated from college. He was a New Orleans homicide detective and my mother was a school teacher. I grew up the oldest of four children, so as you can imagine we didn't have much growing up. My parents always did without so that they could put us through private schools. Both of my parents were very big on education.I will never forget when my father pulled me to the side at my graduation party and handed me the box. When I opened it, I was totally blown away. He was very old school and believed every successful man should have a nice watch, pen and a handkerchief in his pocket at all times.I wore the DD for years as my every day watch, but saw the DJ36mm white dial with Roman numerals one day at the local AD. I loved the Roman numerals so I immediately purchased it. I began wearing it as my daily watch and would pull out the DD for special occasions. Being very happy with both watches, I never
