Bovet Timepieces Owner Pascal Raffy On Patrimony, Values, And The True Meaning Of Luxury
The watch industry is a place I became a part of by accident, and in a sense my love of watches themselves was an accident. Stumbling upon the world of timepieces, I quickly identified with a number of values I had that were shared in the design and construction of high-end timepieces. What I later learned is that this story is anything but unique. Many people who entered the watch industry of their own volition never had the desire to be involved with watches but rather found a number of values in the watch world that they could identify with. In my opinion, this explains the recent history of Mr. Pascal Raffy, formerly of the pharmaceutical industry who purchased the historic watch maker Bovet in 2001.Bovet produces all the components for their watch movements in-house, and also happens to use their industrial capacity to produce small machine parts for the medical and aerospace industry. This is an important point to begin with because what Bovet is not is a marketing machine in the
5712 ordered
Placed the order today, for the 5712 SS, should be here when I come back to Paris end of September, very excited Of course this means that I will need to flip a few pieces to keep a normal financial level, but I can sell them after getting the PP, so no hurry there.Decided I prefer to have few watches than many, especially some haven't gotten any wrist time for a few months. Will be selling 2 Panerai, 233 and 28, possibly also my 82 shadow case, very rare watch, as well as my Blancpain, they should arrive next week, which should leave me with my PP, Rolex Daytona 116515, sub C LN and BLNR.Am even thinking of selling my Daytona rose gold, I know it's a beautiful piece, but I rarely have the occasion to put it, Paris or Odessa are not the best places to be going around with a gold watch, in 1 year we are going to live in Thailand, even though the criminality is very low there they are very good at steeling gold chains or watchesIf I sell the Daytona would probably buy an Aquanaut SS rubb
Dont Fly - Get sea sick: GMT2, Sub, or YM?
Hey all, I am new to these forums but have been lurking for a little. Trying to figure out which watch to upgrade to. I have an Oyster Perpetual Date I've owned for 10 years, and would like something different. The three I've narrowed down to are either GTM 2, Submariner or Yachtmaster --- and as you can see by the title of the post, I don't have much of a use for the tools they provide. So I'm merely going based on personal like when worn. Looking to purchase on the gray/preowned market and use my current OPD as trade to lower the price. I'm having trouble deciding which to purchase. There are so many variations with pre-owned. All of the above are around the same price that I've seen but vary in age. Also, some have box and papers while others don't. If I could ask quick options on the following:- How much do box and papers matter? (Purchasing from a gray dealer in person - reputable local jeweler)- How much does age of the watch matter? (eg. YM - 2000, GMT - 2013, SUB D- 2006)- Are
