Watch Experts Network: ‘Hublot Classic Fusion Aeromoon – watch review by ESCAPEMENT’
Removing the layersFollowing a recent extended period of acquaintance, Angus Davies provides an in-depth hands-on' review of the Hublot Classic Fusion Aeromoon. This watch is equipped with a self-winding movement and a skeletonised dial. Harrods, the prestigious retailer in Knightsbridge, is showcasing Hublot this month with an extensive exhibition.I am no stranger to the psychologist's couch. I have discussed at length the experiences of my formative years whilst lying in repose, freely disclosing aspects of my behaviour. I am obsessive about certain objects and openly confess to suffering from OCD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. As a professional watch journalist, I perceive OCD as a benefit, proving useful when examining each element of a timepiece. I will spend much time scrutinising lugs, crowns, dials and clasps with a loupe in my hand.Another trait I readily display is addiction. Thankfully, I am not tempted to excessively consume alcohol, nor have I ever been enticed to try dru
Updates
It's been a rough three weeks since my heart surgery but today I felt good enough to return some phone calls that had come in while I've been out.One of those was Jim at Continental. When we had talked pre-hospital, his wife of 52+ years had just died. He and June were more than husband and wife, they were business partners. Anyone who had ever called Continental most likely had the call answered by June. Needless to say, Jim could not visualize continuing without her. He had decided to hang it up. When we talked today, Jim had done a 180. What changed? It was all the calls, emails, and cards from friends and customers expressing condolences and urging him not to close down. So it's back to business as usual. He's eliminating the office overhead and 800 number (which may in turn be reflected in his pricing). The Continental direct phone line will still be good with rollover and voicemail.Everyone needs a reason for getting up each morning and this will be good for Jim. Thanks everyone.
Tiffany Dial
Hello All,One of three PP ADs is the counter at Tiffany's and I'm curious how that relationship works. If you order and put on a waiting list does everything they sell come on a Tiffany dial? Do you need to establish repoir in order to get allocation to their new stock. Very curious as it would be very special to have a Tiffany dial although I see that much more in Rolex. Flipping watches
How do u guys flip higher end Pateks or expensive watches in general? I've dealt with shipping out 5-10-20k watches but what about stuff 50-100k? I'd imagine working with a trusted seller or shop to consign but don't know how the easiest way to do it. Anyway any help would be appreciated or a PM. Thanks
Buying spring bars from Rolex
I went to Rolex Vancouver with the intention of purchasing spring bars for my 116610 and 116710. It's not that I needed those I just wanted to stock up just in case. The guy I was talking to said they dont have stocks and have to be ordered, which is fine. But I find it odd he was asking for serial nos. I gave him the model as I thought he had to order based on the model. He insisted for the serial nos and said they can't place an order without the serial number. Also the price he gave is CAD$60++ for a pair of spring bar and have to pay shipping of CAD$40++ for a total of $100 for pair.Do you have the same experience when buying spring bars at Rolex?Maybe because am not their valued customer?!
