Diving Into History: 6 Milestone IWC Aquatimer Watches
At last year’s SIHH, IWC released a slew of new models in its revamped IWC Aquatimer collection of luxury divers’ watches (Click here to check them out). For fans of vintage watches and vintage IWC watches, specifically we highlight here five important IWC Aquatimers from the brand’s history. In 1967, IWC reacted to the growing popularity of amateur scuba diving and launched its first divers’ watch. The first Aquatimer (Ref. 812AD) was water-resistant to 200 meters and became the foundation of a successful new watch family for the watch brand from Schaffhausen.Working closely with designer Ferdinand A. Porsche, IWC began producing the Ocean 2000 sports divers’ watch (Ref. 3500) in 1982. For a time replacing the Aquatimer in the collection, It was the first series-built divers’ watch in titanium, with a tested water-resistance to 2,000 meters. In 1998, IWC reinstated the traditional Aquatimer name and launched the Aquatimer GST Automatic 2000
Panerai PAM305 Luminor Submersible 1950 Dive Watch Is Surprise Hit
Panerai's new P9000 automatic movement line was the star for the watchmaker at SIHH this year. The entry level in-house made movement is meant to be a friendly rugged machine with function and reliability in mind. This is particularly seen in the watches that the new movement line showed up in. My favorite of which is this PAM00305 (PAM305), also known at the Luminor Submersible 1950. In addition to being Panerai's first exhibition back diving watch it also has a face without a number 12. This is the first time I have seen this on a Panerai watch, though I am admittedly not a Panerai superfan like some people out there. You have to give this watch a double-take to make sure it is in fact a Panerai, because that "12" always in the same font, is just SO Panerai. Actually the look is based on some historic Panerai diving watches.Like many Panerai diving watches, the PAM305 is made of titanium, and is a lofty 47mm wide. I like the clean look of the design and the dial. The rotating diver's
The Breitling Bug Bit Me Too...
I always had a soft spot for divers but when I saw this one on TZ sales corner I had to have it, period! Been looking at the SO Steelfish for a while but didn't want to come off the cash. I made an offer to a nice fellow on TZ and ended up getting this at a great price. It was originally purchased at an AD in April of this year. The code on the bracelet, 0507, suggests that the bracelet was manufactured the 5th week of 2007. The deal came with all the goodies and even a Breitling hat! After initial inspection, I found the fit and finish to be as good as any Rolex or Omega that I have owned. At over 44mm, this is not a small chunk O' steel! In comparison to my Bond SMP, the dial is a tad smaller but it is surrounded by quite a bit of steel. Anyway, I think it is a beauty! Enjoy a few rough pics I just took right after I ripped into the delivery box.
Pam 233 or 39 mm ap roc
Should I trade my pam 233 dot dial for a ap royal oak chrono 39mm? I'm adding 3k for the trade! Need help!! I currently have a ap rubberclad and ss daytona and the hulk.
