Radiomir 183 or new reference ?
HiI am interested in buying a Radiomir. I usually prefer to buy mint used as there are some great bargains to be had but I could be persuaded to buy new if there was a distinct advantage. My question is should I buy a good condition Radiomir Black Seal 183 or one of the new references such as a 610 or 380?I prefer the more vintage vibe of the 183 and particularly the sandwich dial which is quite important for me. Yes the newer references have Panerai's in house movement but I really can't see anything wrong with the venerable ETA movements used in the 183 and other older references. Any advice greatly received. Thanks.
PAM 532 - fight 'condition 0' and wear your watches
I have been wearing my 532 in the regular rotation and right now it has been on my wrist for a few weeks, not letting other watches close. Today I decided that this one will stay in the permanent collection. Together with the 111 they are now unsellable. So, I am wondering what it would take for others to do the same. Knowing some of the controversies around the watch when launched, it seems to have been shunned by the hard core collectors. This likely is also the reason that on certain watch sites you have quite a few to sell, but in the forums none.Hopefully that teaches the speculators a lesson and other cool new models can be bought by people that actually want to wear them.Fight 'condition 0' and wear your watches! That's why they are supposed to be bought!!!
Rolex as a Timepeice
I know I will get some heat for this but.... I never looked at Rolex as a timepiece like I looked at my PP/VC/IWC etc.... mostly as a daily casual and some staples for my collection (sub/GMT/Daytona), but I'm catching up on my mail after getting back from the Caribbean and got my Love Package from Hellmut Wempe and the new Rolex Cellini Moonphase in 18k rose gold just screamed at me..... I think its the 1st time ive been in love with a rolex..... I might have to put that deep blue on hold......but.... I am afraid that like my PP/VC and other beautiful dress ones.....it wont see the light of day as much as my casual rotation does.......:( but.... nicely done Rolex..... nicely done....
