Rolex overpriced?
I got the Rolex bug and bought a Milgauss but now I'm having third thoughts. For the price of the Milgauss I can get a couple of nice Omegas to supplement my Seamaster and Speedmaster. I love my new Milgauss gv, but what's really getting me hung up is the cost. Visibility of the green dial is another issue, but it's beautiful in good light.Did you ever have buyers regret and get over it? Do some of you own Rolex and omega too?
Are 42mm PAMs discounted more or less than larger (normal) sizes?
Hey guys - It's been several years since buying a panerai (have been on a Rolex run), and was considering getting a 42mm submersible but unsure how much of a discount can be had on these - I assume 42mm is less popular and probably has worse resale value, so wondering if I should be able to get more of a discount. I tried one on at a boutique out of state , so could ship without taxes. And while this is a boutique , it is owned and operated by a private jewelry store literally on the other side of the mall. Thanks for any insight into PAM pricing!P.s. watch in question is pam 682Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
New PAM?
Thinking about picking up one of the following. Any thoughts from the group are appreciated! 372, 422, 510 or 514. Wrists are 7.25 but kinda feel the 47mm is a bit big. Really like the 510 but love the brownish dials, markings of the others. Good problem to have, I know. Thanks! Any wrist shots are welcome.
A 400-500 Unit Tachymeter Scale is Absolutely Useless for Most Folks
For chronograph lovers, the tachymeter/stop watch function is its most attractive feature (whether strictly for looks or actual usage) and the pushers always add a nice touch to the overall appearance of the watch. But one thing has always perplexed me and that is, whether it's on land (or water) a 400+ scale reading is somewhat useless from the standpoint of actual attainable speed. The other evening, I saw a gentleman wearing a Seiko 6139/Pogue chronograph and on its tachymeter scale, a 50 unit reading is visible at 00:12. This made far more sense from the standpoint that even a F1 driver is rarely going to exceed 200 kph and the descending scale on the 6139 allowed for a sub 60 unit reading. For most practical applications, a 50-250 unit reading seems far more useful IMHO.From the air, a 400+ reading is difficult to ascertain as the landmarks for establishing a visual reference point are oftentimes inaccurate and impractical. Besides, if one is going that fast, who has time to play a
The Rolex Sky-Dweller
Evening All,Before setting out my two questions below, I just wanted to say how fabulous this forum is. I've been a fan of the brand for many years, and have yet to pull the trigger on my first. I'm in no way torn as to which one, as the clue is in the title. As seasoned Rolex owners, buyers, and sellers: (1) do you think it's possible as a newbie to buy a SS SD in blue or black for RRP right now, or even in the next three months?(2) do you think the SS SD will become more affordable--meaning RRP-- in the next 12 months, or do you think the watch will go the way of the SS Daytona and require joining a waiting list?I ask because I have called many AD's on the East Coast (I'm based in VA), and no-one seems to have any. I mean no-one. I note that there are quite a few on the grey market for $17.5-20k, which makes me wonder if there are any with the AD's. It stands to reason that if the GM sellers can get them, then there must be some around. Of course, it could be that the current
