Carl F. Bucherer Manero CentralChrono Watch
I spotted this prototype Carl F. Bucherer watch recently and was immediately taken by it. It combines a sense of retro-sport fashion and the function-mind execution that I have come to expect from the brand. I believe the official name for the watch is the Carl F. Bucherer Manero CentralChrono. In a Manero case, the watch is larger on the wrist being about 44-45mm wide (I would guess) and in steel. You can tell that it is available with an almost slate colored dial or a silvered one. The chunky style case is thick and brushed all around. There are polished elements on the dial for a nice contrast. That includes the nice looking applied arrow-head hour indicators and dauphine hands. Thankfully it is a sport watch so there are lume dots for the hours and lume on the hands. I also need to mention that the hands could be a bit longer - but it isn't bad.Aside from a few in-house movements based on the caliber A1000 base, Carl F. Bucherer often builds on ETA bases. AP NYC Boutique Visit
I had a lunch meeting in NYC yesterday so of course I took the time to visit the AP Boutique. Fantastic layout - they make you feel very at home rather than in a store. They had a bunch of great pieces, but I am always surprised when the Boutiques don't have a lot of the non SE pieces in stock. For example the only RO Chrono they had was the brown dial option. The good, or bad, news was they had the black dial RO Dual Time (quick pic below). This was the first time I handled the piece. All I can say is I love the subtle red accents on the black dial. The dial has such a nice layout it doesn't seem cluttered at all.I think its only a matter of time now.....
Observations
I participated in a sporting charity event this weekend. I had about 40 teams of 4 people come through my station. The event costs about $5000 per team so these people were not poverty stricken. I saw a lot of Rolex watches. The vast majority were Subs followed by two tone DateJust. Saw only 1 Explorer 2.I saw nothing above these watches. I would have expected some DayDates and GMTs. Not so.
