Seiko Recraft Kinetic Watches
One of Seiko's more quiet new watch collections announced for 2014 was the Recraft range, which is all about re-imagining classic Seiko timepieces for today's watch lovers. Some of the Seiko Recraft watches are inspired by models that go back to the 1970s, but I wouldn't necessarily call Seiko Recraft watches to be retro-revival. More, they are a way of revisiting classic Seiko models in a modern light. Even though there are mechanical Seiko Recraft watches, the most illustrious of the pieces are these two Seiko Recraft Kinetic watches (ref. SKA651 and SKA659). Temption Cameo Silver Model Watch
Temption watches will present a twist on the still new Cameo model at Baselworld this year. The new model is called the Cameo S (for silver) and has the popular new Cameo watch with a revised face. The dial is silver colored with different hands and some red minute markers to add color to the face. Further, the watch will offer some light vertical texturing on the dial to match the sides of the watch case, and a onyx rather than tiger's eye cabochon in the crown. Like the standard Cameo watch line, the Cameo S will be introduced as a limited edition of just 500 watches.The rest of the Cameo S model will be the same as the regular Cameo watch. This includes the architecturally themed square case unique to Temption with an ETA 2892A2 automatic movement powering the watch. Why does Patek put Caliber 240 in watches that cost $20K and $200K...
Just wanted to bring one more perspective on the recent discussion why Patek uses the same 240 caliber in their simple Calatrava and the Sky-moon watch. Many complain that there should be a different movement in these watches. Why would Patek put a simple caliber in the more expensive watch...Well, you can also look at it from the other side. 240 Caliber is the expensive caliber. Patek could only offer it with the Sky-moon watch if they wanted and they could put something very simple and generic in the Calatrava line. Yet, they choose to put the same fancy 240 caliber in Calatrava watches so that we can have a chance to own something truly special and of the same top quality as the watch that costs hundreds of thousands dollars. Like someone pointed out, that what makes Patek a Patek and not another watch brand that can offer super complicated watches in their few limited editions and then make ETA stamped calibers for the other mortals.
