SIHH 2014 Preview: 3 New Chronographs From Baume & Mercier Clifton Collection
Next year’s SIHH watch fair in Geneva is still nearly two months away, but the watch brands exhibiting there have already begun to offer sneak previews of their new timepieces. The first to do so is Baume & Mercier, which has released info and photos of three new chronographs in its recently introduced Clifton collection.The first chronograph model in the 1950s-inspired Clifton collection (which thus far has included only a three-hand model with small seconds and a “Complete Calendar” model with moon-phase) has a 43-mm case and a self-winding mechanical movement from ETA. The case has polished and satin finishes and has a scratch-resistant anti-glare crystal and an exhibition caseback secured by four screws. It is water-resistant to 50 meters.The dial features a sun satin finish and either blued steel or golden hands. de GRISOGONO Power Breaker Chronograph N08 Watch Available On James List
In my opinion de GRISOGONO is a pretty interesting and yet under represented brand (at least in the US). I am not familiar with their entire collection, but some of the stuff is interesting. A watch that epitomizes their sport piece collection is the oddly named "Power Breaker." In gold, it has a name that sounds like a piece of construction equipment. That or a WWE wrestler.A lot of this stuff just slips through the cracks. This "N08" Power Breaker Chronograph watch actually came out last year. In 18k rose gold, the case issquarish and so GRISOGONO. What does de GRISOGONO even mean? I love the watch strap. Looks like part of a Stillsuit the "Fremen" wore on Arrakis in Dune. You fellow nerds know exactly what I am talking about. Though I could easily like without the "Power Breaker" logo on the side of the rubber strap. Watch running fast when worn
What causes a 3126/3840 movement to run faster when worn?From my timing, I found that my ROO gained 94s when worn between 9am till 6.45pm. When left off the wrist, it gained about 14s between 6.45pm to 9am the next morning.Is this the 'rebanking' issue that some have spoken about? Is it a simple case of minor adjustment needed or is a major service required?The watch is about 1.5 years old and still under warranty but the nearest APSC is Singapore.Thanks all!
