Event Recap: Harry Winston Celebrates The Ocean Sport Collection At Sunset Beach
The folks over at Harry Winston invited us to a really great event last Friday night at Sunset beach on Shelter Island. The cocktails and dinner (which was served on just an incredible 80 foot long table) was to celebrate the Ocean Sport collection - a casual, summery line of watches perfect for the beachside setting.The event was hosted by Winston CEO Fr��d��ric de Narp, and was attended by a whole bevy of beautiful people (us notwithstanding, of course), including Russell Simmons, Hillary Rhoda, and Andr�� Saraiva, who tagged the step and repeat in front all the guests.? There was also a live performance by the Virgins and just a fantastic mix of interesting people. Watch Spotting: Vladimir Putin Wearing A Blancpain Grande Date Aqua Lung While Signing Treaty To Annex Crimea
If you've been watching the news, you'll know that earlier today Russian President Vladimir Putin declared Crimea a part of Russia in a ceremony at the Kremlin. After a speech in front of parliamentarians and various regional governors, Putin sat down with leaders from the peninsula and signed a draft treaty annexing Crimea. We couldn't help but notice that there was a watch prominently displayed on his wrist. After a little research we deduced that Putin was wearing the Blancpain Grande Date Aqua Lung, a limited edition from nearly a decade ago. 2 OF 2 The Grande Date Aqua Lung is a special edition watch from the Léman collection. Here Putin is wearing the stainless steel version, though there was also an edition in rose gold. The case is 40mm and relatively slim at 11.4mm, which is why it slides under a suit cuff so easily. Some new straps for my 44 SS
I had some straps that I ordered a while back, One is the GP strap with red which I bought used and the other is a strap I bought from AP bands, I think it is the Ruebens Barrichello with white stitch. Both are a great change to the rubber. I really like the AP bands one, but I have had a hell of a time trying to fit it. I bent one screw bar in the process and I am ready to send it back for crappy fitment issues. Too bad, it's a nice strap for the SS. Anyway, here are some pics of my experiment this afternoon! The 44 goes to NYC
First trip with the AP and having an absolute blast. Came out for the art auctions but of course fantastic food, friends and drinks makes it perfect. A bit surreal watching the Da Vinci go for $450M to be honest. Anyway....Been wearing it all day every day, gym aside, and it's been a pleasure. The more I wear it the more I love it. Hit the flagship Rolex store on 5th to try on my up and coming contenders so threw a few pics of those in a as well. They had the plastic on so didn't photograph as well as they should.
