Devon Steampunk Tread 1 Watch
Destined for near future production, is the Devon Steampunk Tread 1 watch. According to Scott Devon, they wanted to play with steampunk ideas for the Tread 1 as a design study. The customer reaction was so good that production is being fast tracked. This of course is the steampunk styled version of the original Devon Tread 1 that I reviewed here. The final design might change a bit, but these renders will reflect how the final versions will look. I anticipate these being a limited production series which we may see in real life closer to the end of 2012. Devon's designer makes it clear that watches from Romain Jerome (going back to designs from Yvan Arpa, as well as their current Steampunk collection) were a major influence in the design of the Tread 1 Steampunk. At the same time, the larger picture of the industrial revolution and core functional concept of the Tread 1 DNA helped inspired the design.Materials will likely include brass and oxidized metal. Boucheron Bestiary Ronde Seconde Folle Collection, The Chameleon, Frog, And Owl Watches
I wrote about these watches individually on Luxistwatches-dealer but wanted to discuss the Boucheron Bestiary Ronde Seconds Folle collection as a whole here. I had a distinct thought when I first saw this collection. It took me back to being a child at Disney Land here in California. Disney had (and I don't know if they do anymore) the ability to create a distinct type of fantasy character often via anthropomorphic with the ability to create a fond sense of some type of ambiguous nostalgia. In a nutshell, that means classic Disney cartoon characters have a way of making you feel good and friendly, and you are not always sure why. I see a bit of of this sentiment in these cartoon-like animal character in the Boucheron Bestiary collection (really they could have used a better term that bestiary - seriously not friendly enough a term, plus we are talking about only three animals). This is especially evident in the frog and the owl. Is there not something a bit Disney-esque about them? Then
What Makes Her Tick: Four Watches For Women, Chosen By Watchmaker Fiona Kruger
Diamonds are not every girl’s best friend. Some prefer watches. On this day, International Women’s Day, we asked our good friend, independent watchmaker Fiona Kruger, to tackle one of the most sensitive subjects in the watchmaking industry: ladies’ watches. 1 OF 5 An independent watchmaker with a fierce sense of design – her Skull and Petit Skull watches address the oldest theme in watchmaking in a totally innovative way – Kruger picks out four very different watches and tells us why they appeal to her, as a woman, and more importantly, as a watchmaker. Hamilton American Classic Flintridge Lady Auto C $1,600 2 OF 5 A limited edition of 999 pieces, the Hamilton Flintridge Lady Auto offers exclusivity and serious watchmaking chops at an affordable price.
