New PO 8500 but which one to get
Hi Guys,I went nuts over the weekend and on impulse got myself a new 45.5mm Planet ocean 8500 with the new Rubber on steel strap. The proverbial question I am now asking is, should I have got the 42mm instead and should I have got the SS bracelet instead of the rubber strap. The rubber strap looks good on the 45.5mm according to my wife and the AD sales chap and just about fits OK (photo attached), but on the 42mm the rubber makes the watch look a bit smaller than it is and looks a bit thin on the lugs. The SS bracelet would make the 45.5mm look too big on wrist, whereas the 42mm with SS bracelet would look good (see photo of earlier 42mm PO 2500), but with rubber strap as I mentioned earlier it makes the watch look more like a 40mm.I have already been back to the dealer and came back staying with the 45.5mm PO with rubber strap, and am having 3rd thoughts about it.I would really appreciate some good views and advice.
5205
I remember 5205 was quite well received when it debuted (2010?). Now, it seems that some owners -fellow TRF members- could not cope with its different case shape and ended up flipping it. Some of the reasons mentioned here were that the watch wears too small, is too top heavy, too thick, unbalanced.Considering the options available for similarly priced annual calendars in the current PP collection (such as 5396G, recently updated with a stunning grey dial), does 5205 still hold its grounds?
Patek aligator strap
I got a new strap from my local Patek hq today.Very stiff still and priced to sell!Problem i discovered later was the print 'geneve' underside is very faint, almost missing, on a brand new strap no doubt.I sent them a pic via email indicating this immediately upon discovering this flaw. Yes i should have checked before i paid but i let that slipped. The hq sales personnel replied and said 'i know the print is faint but the strap is brand new'The strap is not cheap. Who else can i escalate this to?
