Project X Custom Rolex Daytona 'Paul Newman' Tribute & Other Colorful Variants
The Project X DS7 Custom Paul Newman Rolex Daytona and the other, colorful variations (Project X DS4, DS5, DS6) are as though?some of the pieces from our "Watch What-If" series became?real. I mean, sure, there are some varieties and colors to be had, but with certain brands, you are just not likely to see something that is, shall we say, a bit wilder than the rest of the lineup. Rolex?is a perfect example of this:?despite the seemingly massive interest in newer designs, unless you head to some of the aftermarket customizers, you will not be able to get your hands on a lime green Submariner (and perhaps that is for good reason) or a "tribute," vintage-inspired Rolex straight from the company. The chaps over at Project X, an independent company providing customizations to original brand manufacturers' watches, have tackled a particular Rolex that we do not often see customized: the Rolex Daytona.Apparently, this is not their first rodeo with the Rolex Daytona either. Back in 2010, they h
Hands-On: With The New Limited Edition Grand Seiko Hi-Beat GMT With Green Dial
Grand Seiko is truly a hidden gem of high horology. Praised by the most astute collectors in the world for its unwavering dedication to craftsmanship and precision, this new GMT is one of GS's most attractive packages to date, featuring a brand-new, completely in-house, high-beat GMT movement, gorgeous green dial, and fantastically finished multi-tiered case. Oh, and thanks to Seiko's brand-new boutique in NYC, they're easier to find than ever before. 2 OF 19 This 40mm watch features the same style case made famous in the 44GS seen here. The quality of this case can't be stressed enough, with razor-sharp beveling, even brushing, and mirror-like polishing. I mean, look at those lines. 3 OF 19 The high-beat movement caliber 9S86 is a brand new movement for Seiko, beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of 55 hours. It offers a daily variance of +5 to -3 seconds, though likely performance is even more precise than advertised. The oscillating
The 15202 is a temptress!
Not sure if I'm looking for moral support, enabling, or a swift kick to the head but here is the issue: I really want a 15202 (at least I think I do) but I just don't think it fits my lifestyle. I'm sure I would give it a number of scratches and just bang it around a lot because I want to wear it daily but does that... nay SHOULD that matter? Watches are meant to be worn right!? But what about the WR... and so goes the conversation in my brain. Currently I have a 3 watch collection: Speedy, Milgauss Z blue and an AP Diver. To me the speedy is the only watch that is SAFE in the collection; the z-blue and diver could go on the chopping block for the 15202. Mind you, I've owned the 15202 once before but stupidly traded away though I can't recall why. What are peoples thoughts? Trade for it? Keep what I have cause they are more ME? Any help appreciated
Trade a 26320 for a 15202?
Yay or nay? I'm leaning towards the trade given the heritage and collectibility of the 15202. Also with the recent Michael Schumacher concept - an inhouse AP chrono would be be the logical next step!!
Its here and I am in love!
Just got my first AP and it is a beauty! Was looking to get something that was simple elegance. This RO RG with the white dial and brown leather strap, nailed it! Already looking for my next.Got some great help from some members on this site and ended up getting it from the AP AD in Boston and I highly recommend them.
