F.P. Journe Young Talent Competition Brings International Watchmaking Students To Baselworld
Last week, the Acad��mie Horlogere des Cr��ateurs Ind��pendants (AHCI) announced the winners of the 2016 F.P. Journe Young Talent Competition. Three students of watchmaking, all based outside of Switzerland, were invited to join the ACHI in Basel to witness the world's largest watch fair. 1 OF 6 From left to right: Tristan Ledard, Anna-Rose Kirk, Fran?ois-Paul Journe, and Anton Sukhanov. Anton Sukhanov from Russia, Anna-Rose Kirk from the UK, and Tristan Ledard, from France, were each presented with a CHF 3,000 check from Horotec for the skill and technique displayed in recent watchmaking and clockmaking projects entered into the Young Talent Competition. Last week Jack wrote about the new Piaget Emperador Coussin XL 700P, Piaget’s major new release at SIHH 2016. In addition to this crazy skeletonized hybrid electromechanical watch, Piaget released some major women’s watches as well. The brand is actually better-known for its women’s watches and made a name for its high jewelry watches starting in the 1960s (see my article on Piaget cuff watches). For SIHH this year, Piaget released the Limelight Stella with moon phase, which is the most complicated in-house-designed women’s watch ever made in the brand’s history. 1 OF 9 The Limelight Stella features a new caliber 584P that Piaget tells us is entirely designed and made completely in-house, with another caliber (580P) designed for the haute joaillerie version that does not have center seconds, in order to show off the diamond-setting. Hi all,Wow, this kinda sucks... when I put the exact time on my new 5712, using the reverse crown turn to make it exact, and I push the crown back in, the second hand continues to be blocked for some time, even have to make it move to deb lock its the time is really not exact at all, just great after my AP ceramic case cracked, getting a 5167R soon just need the sticking date issue and we'll have a homerun.This ever happened to anyone and how did you solve the problem? Thanks for your help guys :thumbs:

Patek sighting in the movie"Non-Stop"!!
Hello all! Sorry if someone has already caught this and posted about it......Last night I took my son to see the new Liam Neeson movie, Non-Stop. Overall, it was a pretty decent movie and worth watching - if you enjoy those types of action flicks. Nevertheless, in one scene the pilot of the plane needed to check his watch for the time. As he turned his wrist, you could clearly see that it was a complicated Patek Philippe of some sort. Unfortunately it was only visible for about a second, but it was exciting to see a PP up on the big screen! And boy did it look good!This got me wondering if Patek is loosening up the purse strings a bit and paying for product placement opportunities more than they used to? Regardless, the sighting turned the movie from good to great in my book!
