Dievas Vortex Professional Watch
Dievas is following up the original Vortex with this Vortex Professional. I always liked the original Vortex. It more or less combined the best features of a dive watch with the best features of an aviator watch. For many people, this is the ultimate "mission" timepiece. Two years after the original Vortex was released the Professional seeks to improve upon the tool-like nature and legibility of the watch. I think that for many people the original Vortex is going to be more of a "style" watch, but the Professional is just that - for more serious situations where durability and legibility are essential. The Professional has a 44mm wide grade 5 titanium case coated in black DLC - which is very scratch resistant. It still has the rotating diver's style bezel and the good-looking case design. The watch is water resistant to 500 meters with a sapphire crystal. It also has an automatic helium escape valve. The dial is now all lume with the numerals and hands being in black. For style the trian
Introducing: The World's First Fully Functional 3D Printed Watch: The Christoph Laimer Tourbillon
It was an unseasonably warm Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn, and I was walking my dog when my phone buzzed with a text message from a friend, containing only a link to something on Thingiverse (a 3D printing file-sharing site). I opened the link and my jaw dropped; I was looking at a 3D printed tourbillon watch running by itself, built by Christoph Laimer, a Swiss engineer. This is an actual watch, with a tourbillon, that is almost entirely 3D printed. Think about it: the tourbillon – a 200+ year old invention designed by one of the greatest watchmakers to ever live, which for most of its history has been practically synonymous with hand-craftsmanship and high end watchmaking, has been produced in a working watch with a 3D printer. You can wind it, set the time, and carry it with you. Sure, it's a bit large (a pocket watch, not a wristwatch, and they'd need to be good sized pockets to boot) not very accurate, and only runs for about 30 minutes
What have you done to me????
When I first saw APs on forums and on line, they really didn't appeal to me. But over the past 3-4 months I have been spending more time in the AP section than the Rolex section here on the ROLEX forum. I don't even have an AP yet, but I'm gravitating more and more towards the AP brand than Rolex or any other brand. 6-12 months ago, they did nothing for me and now I am enthralled by the AP brand. so My question, has anyone come full circle going from having no interest in a brand like AP, to being completely crazy for that brand???I still plan to make my next purchase of a PAM 312, but hopefully early next year I can get my self a Diver on a bracelet!
Breitling Colt GMT+
I have worn only Rolex watches since 1971, but when I went to my AD a few weeks ago to see the new Rolex collection, there was nothing that floated my boat. The Breitling Colt GMT+ interests me. It seems to combine the functionality of the Explorer II and the Submariner. Any comments about this particular Breitling model?
Which bracelet Patek?
Hi guys,I am considering adding a PP with bracelet (white gold or stainless steel) to compliment my little collection and I need your help deciding this. I'm aware that the ones I listed below have irrelevant pricings. The candidates are ;1. 5711AWhat I like about this watch that it's so simple and thin and it being a timeless model. The only one without any complications on my list, but one of my favourite actually. Price is much better than the others listed below, too.2. 5712AComplication. Not much more expensive than 5711A with the complication.3. 5130/1GPrecious metal and world time. But some time (not very far) later, I'm definitely in the market for a 5131 (not sure if for a G or J yet), so that could bring this guy down in the list. Actually precious metal is an important factor since I'm not going to be in the market for another bracelet PP any time soon, so my only one in WG would be nice. If there was a 5712G with bracelet... :)4. 5980/1AThis can easily be my favourite. But t
