Considering buying my first AP... Veteran Rolex buyer! Tempt me PLEASE!
Hi GuysI visited a grey dealer today who stocks rolex, AP and Panerai. I went in with the intention of placing an order for a rolex Day Date 2 18k YG and we got speaking about APs. The dealer had on a ROO Rubber Rubber.... well thats what he told me it was called! The dealer said it retailed for ?18,000 but he was able to get me one for ?10,000 brand new. He made a very interesting comment regarding why I should invest in a AP. He said that in his opinion it wasn't sensible to spend over ?10k on a watch that was widely available on the market i.e virtually every rolex model over ?10k. He asked me, Why would I want to wear such an expensive watch that many people owned! He said an AP was a good buy as it was respected a bit more widely and a little more exclusive due to limited units made per year.Should I go with AP? How well do AP hold their value? Is the ROO rubber rubber a good first buy?PLEASE HELP!Especially interested in hearing from owners of both Rolex and AP.I currently own TT
The Beagle has landed
I can't believe no-one has used this topic title yet for their new Snoopy So when I saw today's Telegraph magazine cover it seemed like I should take some pics of mine Now the new Silver Snoopy interested me but I'm afraid I just can't like it. The overly busy dial, the gaudy, ott lume that looks like a chav/redneck Christmas tree and the lack of bracelet (interested to see one on bracelet though) aren't doing it for me at all sadly. It got me thinking though that I missed my original Snoopy and a quick search online turned up a full set unworn example with super low serial number which I quickly snapped up. Obviously the first thing to do with an unmarked 12 year old watch is wear it and scratch it up some which you'll be pleased to hear is exactly what i've done These things are meant to be worn as tool watches after all So, anyway, here's to the famous Beagle, 65 years old a couple of months ago and still looking cool as ever
Cosc Certificate Arrives . . . interesting . . .
I ordered the COSC Certificate for my 36.2mm Railmaster (.rolexforums/showthread.php?t=114083) awhile back. It arrived today. Some folks have complained that Omega now charges 50 Swiss Francs ($48.47) for the Certificate. As you can see on the envelope, Omega pays 11.50 Swiss Francs just in postage. Now, while I don't think 50 Swiss Francs is a great bargain, considering Omega has to order the Certificate, probably pay COSC a little something for it (after all, if it was free Omega would probably provide it routinely with the watch), and then ship it to us in the USA, the price doesn't seem outrageous either.Interestingly, in studying the figures for the movement in various positions, it confirms what I had noticed by trial and error. The watch likes to rest on its back at night and absolutely does not like resting on the 9 o'clock with the 3 o'clock up (really slows down). Wearing the watch 14 hours a day and resting it on its back with the dial up at night results in a loss of on
Patek 5930 WorldTime - Picture Heavy
Ok so the watch has been on the arm for 2 days so thought now we could give some reflections. The internet where I am hiludaying truly sucks so the pictures will be coming through in batches. So if you interested keep checking back snd yes there will be duplicates.
Will the new GMT II Pepsi dial make the BLNR less desirable
Any thought? Plus I think prices will drop a little?
