Happy Valentine's Day dear readers! We begin February by taking a look at Breva's new Genie 02 Altimeter watch and one of the earliest Rolex Submariners, the iconic Reference 6200 Big Crown . Speaking of divers, we are also are taking a closer look at Audemars Piguet's new striking all-white ceramic Offshore Diver. Finally, we learn more about the history of Patek Philippe's perpetual calendar chronograph watches and what makes them so special, and see what are the most noteworthy ladies watches from this year's SIHH.1. Important Early Cartier Men's WatchesMany of you might regard Cartier as a jewelry brand, but did you that they were in fact one of the pioneers of wrist watches? Today the brand makes some very high-end and exciting pieces, such as Rotonde de Cartier Astrocalendaire Watch, but their roots were simpler, though no less important. Here is a look at some very early Cartier watches.Source:?watches-dealer2. Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Automatique 5015 Watch ReviewBlancpain's Fi
A Week On The Wrist: The Longines Heritage Military COSD
Longines has been a Value Proposition favorite for very good reasons: thanks to their history, they have a pretty fantastic repertoire of great designs and historically important watches on which to draw, and the Heritage Longines watches are such an inexhaustible supply of great looking, reasonably priced vintage watches that I’ve often been tempted to just do the whole collection in one go and save you the trouble of reading a dozen different stories. However, sometimes a watch really is worth a stand-alone look-see, and the Heritage Military COSD is one of them. 1 OF 8 The short version of the story is that the Military COSD is based on a watch issued to the British military – in particular, paratroopers – during the Second World War. As such it looks to have been a very, very straightforward timepiece, designed for two objectives: economy, and sturdiness. Hi Guys. Want to know you opinion. If you had to choose only one... money is no option. Lets talk about looks. For the bracelet subject there is always a rolex for that. Would like to hear your opinions so please sound off.
Panerai Mind Boggle
I would like to acquire a Panerai sometime this year. I am having a few holdups and wanted everyone’s opinion. Below I will list what I know/want.- I love the open case back ala 112- I love the icon logo ala 000- I think I prefer the old ETA movement over the new in-house but not 100% on this fact- I do not want any date / power reserve etc basically a base color doesn’t matter technically just a simple face is the criteria - I believe the “older” models have a screw down back over a newer designMy biggest problem is the simple fact if I can get a new 8 day in house movement with an msrp of 6k for 4-4500 vs a used 112 for 3800-4400 do I see the value in the more preferred dial(not reading 8 days), and easier eta movement for years to come? Or just go with a brand new piece due to the close proximity in price.I also am not knowledgeable on the difference of series, if anyone can shed some light for me?I know I have a lot of criteria and some are impossible and
Can you live with good looks alone?
I've been thinking about getting a Panerai. It will be my first and only Pam. It has to be a 3 hander with a sandwich dial. I will admit that is a classic Panerai look, and indeed it looks very good. However, I am a complication type of guy who likes rotating bezel, chrono, etc.So the question is, if you like complication in your watches, does the basic 3 handers Panerai become boring after a while???PS. I rule out chrono Pams since it just doesn't look right to me. the flyback does look very good, but is out of my price range.TIA,anthony
