Jaeger-LeCoultre Launches Reverso Virtual Museum
2011 marks the 80th anniversary of the Reverso, and to celebrate, Jaeger-LeCoultre is launching a virtual online museum dedicated to the iconic reversible watch. Since 1931, owners have made Reversos uniquely their own by having the protective caseback engraved. Reverso owners can earn a place in the history of this watch and the brand by submitting images of their personalized Reversos for possible inclusion in the museum’s curated collection. With the new Virtual Museum, all those who wish to can share their inspiration with other lovers of the Reverso across the globe. Today’s owners will be able to join eminent historical figures who personalized their Reversos. In the 1930s, King Edward VIII of England had his family crest designed on his Reverso, as did a Danish prince who, in a 1934 letter, stated that even though subjected to bad weather in Southern Morocco his Reverso had always given complete satisfaction. The celebrated aviator Amelia Earhart engraved the iti
Red Gold IWC Special Edition 'Le Petit Prince' Pilot's Watch Double Chronograph Edition
As part of their sale of Important Watches this year, Sotheby's is auctioning off a unique red gold IWC Special Edition Pilot's Watch Double Chronograph Edition "Le Petit Prince." We took a look at the stainless steel version?of the children's book-inspired watch, and this special version is being auctioned to benefit the?Antoine de Saint-Exupry Youth Foundation. ?Antoine de Saint-Exupry was, along with being the author of The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince,?en Fran?ais), an avid pilot who penned numerous books about the subject. It's hard not to find the "Le Petit Prince" watch attractive, and in red gold it's downright beautiful. The blue face with seven stars has, just like in the stainless steel model, a gold disc which "illuminates" a random star every day. It's not really too practical, since you'd have to assign a star to a day- but this isn't really a piece for practicality. Rather, the feature is whimsical and unique- much more the style of this piece. The red gold case back f
Nixon Goes Upscale With Its Automatic Chrono LTD Watch
Nixon has long been mostly a fashion brand, with bold, oversized designs and quartz movements. (Also good for presidential candidates!) With the launch of their Elite collection, they are moving into mechanical movements and higher prices:Simply put, these are the highest quality watches we make. Each one is made to the most exacting standards of Swiss watch makers, is custom built and features the Automatic ETA movement that has been the standard of quality timepieces for decades. The Automatic Chrono LTD is the flagship of the collection, a very limited run of 25 watches, in ion-plated steel with a tungsten bezel and crown cap. Tungsten is very unusual, it's most often seen as the nose cone material for missiles, so if nothing else it's a good conversation starter. Tungsten is incredibly tough and should make a good bezel material, remaining flawless for many years. The watch comes with a matching bracelet, though if you look I'm puzzled that they chose straight end links instead of f

Aquanaut to Mexico for vacation?
So, after a debate....My wife is not bringing her engagement ring...but I just feel naked without a watch. We're staying at a top resort, but wondering what your thoughts are on bringing my aquanaut? I figure a Rolex would be a little too showy/obvious, so thought my aquanaut would be a perfect under the radar watch? Also, I've never worn it in the pool/ocean -- nothing to worry about, right? Thanks as always!
