The HODINKEE Shop Now Carries Watch Winders, Strap Changing Tools C Plus Ten New Calfskin Straps All Available Now
Over at the HODINKEE Shop we’ve been expanding our repertoire, and today we’re proud to announce that we are now carrying watch winders and strap changing tools. In addition, we’ve stocked some killer single-layer calfskin straps in 10 colors and two sizes, as well as two new leather travel rolls. See below for full details. Watch Winders We’ve tried a lot of winders, but we keep coming back to Swiss Kubik. They are among the most quality winders we’ve encountered, with several beautiful finishes and nearly silent winding. Now in the HODINKEE Shop, we have five Swiss Kubik winders available: 1 OF 19 The Startbox is the most affordable winder option at $460, and features a sleek black finish. 2 OF 19 The Anodized Silver winder features a modern silver finish, and is available for $795. 3 OF 19 The Wenge Wood finish is one of our favorites, featuring a rustic wood finish. The Piaget Altiplano 900P, The Worlds Thinnest Watch, For Only Watch 2015
Participating in Only Watch for the sixth year in a row, Piaget releases the Altiplano 900P – for the first time with red hands. Piaget bills the Altiplano 900P as “neither entirely a movement nor exactly a case – or rather, both at once.” The Altiplano 900P merges both case elements and the movement, achieving a record-breaking slenderness at 3.65 mm, making it the thinnest watch in the world. 1 OF 3 Piaget takes its skills in ultra-thin watchmaking to the extreme with this timepiece. Each of the 145 parts is trimmed to a hair’s breadth, including some wheels that measure a mere 0.12 mm. What results is a one-of-a-kind timepiece that is sure to turn heads at this year's auction. 2 OF 3 The Piaget Altiplano 900P will be auctioned off on November 7th to raise funds for research into more effective treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. For more on Piaget, click here. 3 OF 3
Thinking of an AP
Lately I've been looking at AP for whenever my next watch comes along. I have been looking at the 15400 and the Diver among possible candidates. The one thing that turns me a bit off of the brand is the large number of special editions and different themes like safari, vulcano etc. It all seems a bit fashion watchy. I know all about the exceptional quality and the great movements, even though some are modified. Anyway, what are your thoughts? I'm posting this here because I am pretty sure of the responses I will get on the AP forum.
New Incoming: Audemars Piguet Content & SOTC
I've had an AP itch to scratch for a while now, having been a keen admirer of this style of watch for quite some time however a combination of lack of watch box space and not being able to find one at the right price and the right condition meant a fairly long wait to realise a desire. Fast forward 6+ months, endless hours scouring the net, visiting shops and bumping WTB's I had almost given up hope....then out of the blue one pops up briefly on another forum ticking all the boxes and of course I miss it by a couple of hours....isn't it always the way. Anyways what was meant to be was meant to be as a couple of weeks later a chance random email was received and less than 12 hours later and this puppy was mine. Incidentally, it happens to be the same one I missed on the forum. It's a funny old game this...So what did we pick up, well it's a white dial reference 15300 (15300ST.OO.1220ST.01 to be precise but what's a couple of extra letters between friends). True to the original Royal Oak
Speedmaster ID
Hi guys,After showing a family friend my recently purchased a Speedmaster Pro 3570, he mentioned that he also had an Omega Speedmaster that he had purchased new (here in New Zealand) many years ago.Pictures of the watch are below, i'm trying to find out some more info on it and it's possible value.I've searched the internet and came to the conclusion that it looks exactly like a Speedmaster MarkII. The only difference is that this model has an applied Omega logo and DOESN'T have MARKII printed on the dial under Professional, like all the others i've seen.Is it possible that this is a very early version before they started printing MARK II on the dial?Any info would be great thanks...CheersJeremy
