To mark Patek Philippe’s recent 175th birthday, WatchTime offers a look at the company’s most notable wristwatches. Scroll down to discover ’s top five. For the complete list of 24 milestone Patek Philippe watches, you can download the full article?from WatchTime’s online store.1868 First Patek Philippe WristwatchIn 1868, Patek Philippe began production of its first wristwatch: an ornate affair with a baguette-shaped, key-wound movement called Caliber 27368. It had a cylinder escapement and eight jewels. The watch's case and bracelet were made of yellow gold. The dial was protected by a hinged cover adorned with large diamonds; more diamonds flanked both sides of the dial. In 1873, Patek Phillipe delivered the watch to the Countess Koscewicz of Hungary. The watch is now in the company's museum.1925 First Perpetual Calendar WristwatchThat this, the world's first perpetual calendar wristwatch, ever came to be is due chiefly to chance. Frdric Jouvenot S?n Watch
The?Frdric Jouvenot S?n watch enters that extremely limited?group of independent timepieces that?try and find?new ways to?animate and display astronomical indications. To do that, it takes inspiration from none less than S?n,?the Mesopotamian god of the moon. Let's take a look at?some of the key details of this unusual piece, which will debut at?Baselworld 2015.The centerpiece of the S?n, without a doubt, has to be its highly unusual?sun-moon display. What we're looking at here is effectively a 3D day/night indicator C to get a better idea on how it works, ?check out the video above and?see it in action. The passing time is?recorded by centrally-mounted hands (the hour hand is referred to as "eccentric" as it appears to float above a silver colored ring surrounding?the minute hand). The center has a small minute display while the hours are indicated at a somewhat larger scale with a dew drop shaped hand. The dial also offers the day-night indication, meaning that the transit of the su
REC P-51 Review
Ford Mustang VIN number 6F87CT85151 lived a rather average life. Born in early 1966, it toured the roads in style and power for years before it fell by the wayside after a minor accident. Left to sit in a field for far too long, what started as an easily repairable issue became unsalvageable as rust and decay set in. With a production run of over 600,000 in 1966 alone, it's by no means a unique story. Still, when talking about such an icon, it's always sad to see one fall through the cracks and become lost forever. Luckily for 6F87CT85151 and for the rest of us, the story didn't end there. Dead as it was, the Mustang still had more to give, and thanks to its owner's generous donation, VIN number 6F87CT85151 sacrificed its body to bring us this- the REC P-51.The P-51, named for the Ford Mustang's famous warbird namesake, is the fourth effort for Danish brand REC and the fullest extension of their unique mission- to create evocative, attractive timepieces out of reclaimed automotive mate
Navitimer 01 LE
Does the Nav 01 LE have options...like a buckle or clasp leather strap? Is it weird that I have any opportunity to buy a 15XX/2000 BNIB complete with papers stamped this past March? This is some really old new stock, right? They are wanting $6300, but with none on the market that I can find, not sure if this is good deal?I've only had one Breitling (Bentley GT) and lost pretty big when selling. I would like to add a chrono with date in this size range. I sold my Daytona due to it's smaller size and no date. I also figured I could put a mesh bracelet on the Navi for a classy summer option.Any help/tips/opinions is greatly appreciated as I try to add a chrono with date.Thanks.
Any word on Sub being updated?
