Question on Reliability of AP
Hi,So I've heard/read quite many horror stories of the reliability of AP in general. However I'm thinking about getting a steel 15400 and a gold jumbo 15202 sometime down the line. My question is how reliable are the 3120 and 2121 movements? I understand they probably need to be serviced more often than say, a rolex, and will also be more expensive to service, both of which are fine by me. I am just worried/concerned with repeated services/malfunctions in short periods of time. I'm not a clumsy person and don't bang up my watch so I expect a service every 3-5 years but don't think I can go with AP if a significant percentage (say over 10%) of AP owners have experienced nightmares/disasters with their new AP watches (3120/2121 movements).Sorry if this isn't a good question but I'm trying to decide if I should stick to Rolex as AP's reliability or lack of, could be the potential deal breaker. Thanks very much
Forged Carbon Diver back from Clearwater
Hello All!I had the great fortune of acquiring my Forged Carbon Diver from one of our trusted dealers on TRF in late March, and if you saw it in person I think you'd agree with me that it is a fantastic look piece, quite different from most Offshores in a number of ways. Already in the short amount of time I've had it, we've already had some adventures together, but unfortunately it had to take a solo trip to APSC in Clearwater as well. At first I thought I was going crazy...perhaps I wave my hands/fist pump too frantically at concerts I wore it to or whatnot, but I noticed that my Diver kept gaining time. Sometimes a minute or two overnight. (I always sync my watches to the clock inside my iPhone to see how accurately they keep time)Although it was a new watch, I was a little cautious and sent it over to Betsy at APSC. Although they told me that it would take a little over a month to service, lo and behold, like my last Diver I had serviced (my Steel had to get a crown replacement) th
Finally I joined the Moon-Club!
Hi guys,I am very happy today, 'cause I've just joined the club!!! Here you are a pic of my Speedy. I couldn't be much happier and satisfied of my last addition to the collection
PP 3468 dial
Hi all,I've found a PP that I'd really like to buy from a private party but the one question I have is about the dial. Almost every image I can find of the 3468 has double stick markers on the quarters, however, I see some that do not have the double markers. From the low quality/light picture I've seen, this watch does not seem to have the double markers and I can't see enough to pick up the SWISS at the bottom. Of course, I'll be inspecting the watch in person prior to transacting but any thoughts/info on the markers? All manual wind Pateks from this era (1960s) should have SWISS on the dial right?
How much discount did you get on your PM Rolex?
Without getting too much into the details. I'm curious what the average watch fan on here got as a discount and from what source with regards to a Gold/Platinum/Two Tone Rolex? I think most of the time, you are hard pressed to get more than 5% off on stainless models so I'm not as interested. Also, Since we are largely a group of passionate watch people, this poll will not likely reflect the average buyers experience which is likely mostly full retail.
