Ulysse Nardin Aquires Dial Enameler Donz Cadrans
After many years at the helm of Donz Cadrans, Francine and Michel Vermot have decided to retire, selling their 100 percent stake to Ulysse Nardin. UN says this move will secure the long-term future of the business and its know-how, placing it in the hands of the company which renewed interest in the art of enameling in the eighties and has played a major role in the growth of Donz Cadrans.Perhaps no other luxury watch brand creates as many varied enamel dials as Ulysse Nardin. Mention enamel dials, and many collectors will think first of San Marco Chronometers with deep blue dials, or with dials honoring great sailing ships.Ulysse Nardin Chief Executive Officer Patrik Hoffmann noted: “The acquisition of Donz Cadrans maintains our strategy of continuity and vertical production, while reflecting our heritage and tradition of our Manufacture.”The acquisition will provide Ulysse Nardin with additional cloisonn and grand-feu enamel expertise. Out of warranty
Hello everyone,My 5167 is having power reserve issues. I'd like to bring it in to Henry stern, but it's a little less than 3 years old and out of warranty. Has anyone had a similar situation, and did HSWA honor the warranty, even though it expired 10 months ago?If they don't honor it, I'm thinking of going to war with them because this is the third piece I've brought in for service within the past year; I had a similar power reserve issue with my 5711 and the pushers weren't working on my 5164. Thanks for your help!Ian
Mario Paci straps: a brief review
I ordered 4 straps by Mario Paci recently, and they promptly arrived today. I've installed 3 of them and snapped a couple of shots. The MP straps are fabulous! They're made of thick hides, rich in color and aroma. They arrived firm, but soften quickly as they're broken in (which I did all day).As I have small 6.5 wrists, I ordered all but one strap in 115/75 size. This fits fine, with the buckle fastened at the 2nd or 3rd hole, but it leaves a very short tail. Due to the thickness of the straps, consider ordering one size longer when ordering (125/80 in my case). MP makes this recommendation on their order page as well. All the straps I ordered came with sewn-in buckles that are very robust. I would have preferred to use my stock Panerai buckles, which are smaller, but as I said the buckles are sewn in; furthermore, the straps themselves are not tapered, so the stock Panerai buckles I own wouldn't fit anyway. That said, the buckles themselves are well built, nicely finished, and look
My first Rolex! New Submariner C on 7.75 Wrist (pics)
I just picked up my first Rolex. Have had my eye on the new Submariner no date (114060) for a long time and finally bought one. Zero regrets, it's a perfect watch. My concern was how it would look on a 7.75 wrist being a 40mm watch. I've always worn 43mm and up. Can report, again, it's perfect in every way! Here's a couple pics for those seeking the same information.
