Bring a Loupe: A Spectacular Submariner, A Large Breitling Top Time, A Very Complete Memovox, An Unusual Omega Ranchero, And More
This week, Bring A Loupe focuses on a perennial favorite: vintage Omegas, from an intriguing Railmaster to an exotic Speedmaster. We will also examine one of the very first Rolex Submariners with crown guards, a reference 5513 with a flawless gilt dial. And to round things out, we have a couple of chronographs from Breitling and Universal Geneve, each with their own interesting quirks. This is your Bring A Loupe for January 8, 2016. An Early Rolex Submariner Reference 5513, A Stunning Vintage Sub With Glossy Gilt Dial 1 OF 12 This dial instantly tells you one thing: you are not looking at your average Submariner. This vintage Sub exhibits exactly what we love: a deep glossy dial and a fat case. The dial is marvelous, with a lacquer finish characteristic of the early 5513s. Until 1966, the reference 5513 boasted a glossy dial with gilt lettering ("gilt" referring to the golden color). Only after 1966 would the Submariners have the matte dials we described
Pic request. AP 15300,400,450 with Rolex
Hey guys. Considering picking up one of these beauties with white dial. I'm unsure of how they size given their shape. Can anyone that has one take a comparison picture with their Rolex ?I currently wear a RG daytona, GV, GMT2c and 16613 bluesy. They're all fine on my wrist just don't want anything much bigger then any of those. I'm wondering which of the 3 I should shoot for 37-39 or 41. I'll go see the AD this week to try on the 15400 and 15450 but he doesn't have the discontinued 39mm for me to try and I have a feeling that's the one I'll need. Thanks in advance.
