Drive de Cartier: The New Cartier Men’s Collection
Cartier drives home its iconic design codes in the Drive de Cartier, its new shaped men's collection, introduced this week at SIHH 2016 in Geneva. The cushion-shaped case of the Drive de Cartier is the latest creation designed to reinvigorate the brand's longstanding tradition of shaped watches. The collection has all the Cartier design codes: guilloch inner dial, railroad chapter ring, Roman numerals, highly defined proportions and an element of fine watchmaking mechanics.Aside from the elegant case shape, two outstanding features place the Drive de Cartier definitively in the category of elegant dress watches: the slim tapered profile, or galbe as the French call it, makes it look like an ultra-slim watch, even though it is a fairly standard 11.5 mm thick; and the pattern of the guilloch center, which is uniquely repeated on the outside of the chapter ring, adds elegance. PP calatrava... legit?
I stumbled upon a vintage calatrava the other day on a local auction site. I don't know much about the Calatrava models, but apart from the fancy lugs, it still looks a bit odd. It's as if the style of the dial doesn't match the bubble back case. And the dial looks refurbished. Moreover, did Patek Philippe ever have a gold stamp on the case back? Nevermind the text on the pics. :)I'd appreciate your opinion. Thanks!

Incoming: ceramic Daytona
As a follow up to my other thread regarding my (only) 8 month wait, i picked up my Daytona this morning. I could've had my choice of color when i ordered, but i wanted black - classic look and is a perfect partner to my Mitsukoshi Speedmaster.Such a beautiful piece. Hard to imagine anything else is my collection is going to be getting any wrist time in the near future...As for policies, procedures, etc. My dealer basically handed me the watch in the plastic shipping container - untouched by anyone, even them. I could have walked right out and they wouldn't have cared. However, I opened it up, took the stickers off and had them remove a link. They filled out the warranty card and activated it. No mention of any directive from Rolex to de-sticker, photocopy my ID and warranty card, etc. so ymmv on that. Here is it:
