10 Interesting Facts About Marc Newson's Watch Design Work At Ikepod
Whether or not Apple decides to release an iWatch, iTime, iWhateversmartwatch in a few hours or a few months (UPDATE: They did. See the Apple Watch here), we know that the accomplished Australian industrial designer Marc Newson will more than likely be a big part of the design process of this upcoming and highly anticipated wearable computing device. A few days ago, I discussed the implications and virtues of Apple's decision to have Marc Newson join Jony Ive in designing products at the company. You cannot discuss Marc Newson and watches without talking at length about Ikepod.Ikepod is a luxury watch brand and it is technically still around, but it really isn't a big deal any longer - at least not like it was in the late 1990s and early 2000s. What happened? In addition to filing for bankruptcy in about 2003 and later being purchased by new investors, Marc Newson and Ikepod parted ways back in 2012.Even though the company has had its ups and downs from the start, the biggest asset of
Zenith Pilot Montre dAronef Type 20 GMT Watch
As part of?Zenith's focus on their Pilot watch collection for 2013, one of the new models is this Pilot Montre d'Aronef Type 20 GMT watch. Also new for 2013 is the?Zenith Pilot Montre d'Aronef Type 20 Annual Calendar. Both the Annual Calendar and the GMT use existing Zenith movements. In fact, we see very little new movements these days from the major brands. Movement development is extremely expensive and time consuming. It is often best to extend the life of successful movements by dressing them up in different ways, in different watches. Zenith of course is among the true in-house movement makers.Zenith has true history with pilot watches and the Pilot Montre d'Aronef Type 20 collection is based on historic designs made popular by themselves and other watchmakers of the time. But to us that doesn't matter. If you make a good watch today it shouldn't matter what you've done in the past. Yes, I know, I am an unrefined American. The almost art deco style of the vintage looking dials

Bracelet for Aquanaut - Comments?
Hi folks,I'm considering ordering the stainless bracelet for my 5167. Would appreciate any feedback, especially from those who have the bracelet. Pics are certainly encouraged as well, of course! Is the bracelet sturdy? How does it feel (light/heavy)? Is it comfortable? How is the clasp? Is it prone to stretch? How does it look in person? Thanks all, and have a great weekend!
Does Anyone Wear/Use a Leather Bund Strap?
I read somewhere that Paul Newman wore a bund with his Daytona. These watchstraps were originally designed for German fighter pilots during WW2. I've seen Alton Brown on 'Good Eats' wearing one but in general, they aren't all that common. The design is wide around the watch and narrows down to ordinary watch strap width towards the buckle. Like NATOs, the bund seems to look better with sport watches rather than the more dressier models.Curious if anyone has here wears these as an alternative strap/fashion statement.
