Dietrich OT-1 Review
It's not too often we come across a watch that is really unlike anything we've seen before. Most designs play by at least some set of rules, and really wild things tend to be either very cheap or very expensive. Well, a few months ago I got the chance to meet Emmanuel Dietrich, founder of Dietrich Watches, and check out his designs, which were profoundly different. The watch had an odd shape, with crazy curves and geometry that spoke to a different idea about how watches should look and feel. The case alone really drew me in, with parts that veered greatly from the standard, and require very good manufacturing to pull off. The dial then had some wild things going on that simply pulled me in further. The concept behind the watches correspond to Dietrich's idea of organic design. Rather than drawing more from watches themselves or more man-made things (think automobiles and architecture) the design draws from nature. This isn't a new concept to design with people like Ross Lovegrove pract
Any AP Enthusiasts In Vegas Today !
Hey Guys, been in Vegas the last couple of days, missed the great blizzard of '15, thank god, 😅. Visited the new AP boutique yesterday and was given the royal treatment by the boutique manager Zizo & his second in command Dom. Great people & visit. Going again today, if anyone of of you guys are around, let's go together & check it out. Zizo said, he's going to have some special pieces bought in for me. Quite excited. Here are some random shots. Also met Luc the RM boutique and he had a wealth of knowledge & was extremely accommodating. Let me know gents. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Panerai deployant buckle a pain-literally!
Hi TRF friends,I purchased a PAM 0164 recently from the Panerai AD in Dubai and am now regretting buying it. The watch is beautiful but the deployant buckle a real pain in literal terms. It's very heavy, gets stuck in the wrist and by the end of the day the whole wrist is in pain. I have tried alternating between the alligator and rubber straps but the problem persists. Even wearing it a bit loose doesn't help. Have any of you experienced the same problem?I called up the AD in Dubai (I live in Pakistan) and they informed me that ordering a strap and pin buckle can take upto 3 months and will cost anything between 400 to 600 USD. Can you believe it ? Makes me wish I had gone for the PAMs 312 or 359 which were about 800 USD more but at least had the pin buckle plus a 3 day power reserve. Can any of you recommend any good aftermarket straps and Pre-Vendome pin buckle suppliers. I tried ordering them online from panatime but for some reason they were not accepting Pakistani credit cards. Ar
First Rolex Incoming!!
Hey every, as some of you know I have been in the market for a Rolex and was inbetween a Rhodium YM or SubC date. I went into my AD today as he had both in stock to try and figure out which one I was going to purchase (in the FUTURE).Ultimately decided that the YM was a little too flashy and the Sub was just timeless, perfect, and everything I was looking for in my first Rolex (currently wear a Tag Formula Chrono).I tried to wheel a deal...and got the option to ship out of state withba small discount. I was really back and forth on whether or not I should pull the trigger (like my whole neck was red and my girlfriend was laughing because I was nervous/excited). Ultimately I decided to walk out because I really wanted to wait a little longer......30 minutes later I calle day AD and said screw it!!! Let's put a bow on it! Bought my first Rolex 116610LNThe WORSTE part is I don't get to wear it till next weekend when I see my best friend out of state!!!P.S. how do I post picture from
Most versatile Rolex reference?
Hi all,In lieu of the new 126710 BLRO, there has been discussion that the 16710 is a more versatile timepiece. I personally enjoy the options of swapping out the 3 aluminum bezel inserts, and oyster bracelet to jubilee. A bezel insert change gives the timepiece a completely different look, and I feel as though I'm wearing a new watch. Some members have claimed to get bored or styles change, and end up flipping their timepiece for a new one. With the 16710 you essentially have 1 watch with 6 different looks (9 if you have a nato strap).I'm a proud owner of the 6 in 1 club, and love the variety. Do any other owners of the 16710 ever get bored with this reference? In your opinion, what is the most versatile Rolex reference?? Cheers!
