Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver
Audemars Piguet launched a new diver’s watch at SIHH last week. The Royal Oak Offshore Diver measures 42mm x 13.75mm and is powered by AP’s manufacture 3120 automatic movement. The ROO Diver meets or surpasses each of the Swiss watch industry norms (NIHS) for dive watches, including time preselection device, visibility, water resistance, anti-magnetic properties, resistance to shock and thermal variations, and resistance to external forces. The time preselection device norm (NIHS 92-11 corresponding to ISO 6425) calls for a device that is protected against any unintentional rotation. The ROO Diver has a unidirectional inner bezel that is activated via a click mechanism linked to the crown at 10 o’clock. The wearer must unscrew the crown to turn the bezel. The Swiss dive watch norms require that the time measured on the inner dial ring must be readable in the dark from a distance of 25 cm, or about 10 inches. After 2 years I finally saw another DSOTM in the flesh.
The one thing I love about the DSOTM is I've never seen one in the flesh. This evening I was on the SF muni going home and I saw what looked like a DS. I went up to the guy and we had a great conversation about Omega and the watch. He has the Cordora band with the new deployment buckle and I showed him my calf skin from the pitch black that I added. It was amazing how I could spot one from so far away and how I just went up and started talking. His wife looked bored lol. There is no way I would do that with a sub or Daytona. As much as I love Rolex and it is my fav watch brand I would never carry on a convo about one.
I'm one of you now, my new PO :)
Well I finally did it, bought my first Omega! I've really liked the orange bezel 42 PO since it came out a few years back, I had shopped them a few times but never actually pulled the trigger.Found this one locally, original owner, immaculate, worn once or twice, full set with box and papers at a great price. The only negative for me is that it's on a black rubber band rather than steel...I'm going to post a Want to trade bracelets in the For Sale section, hopefully someone will be interested. Also interested in other bracelet options, what do you wear yours on?Paul
Patek 5227r Pricing
I am no Patek expert but i came across a Patek 5227r this weekend from an local AD for $17,000. This seems like really good deal, i could only find (4) listing in the classified that were relatively old and were never updated as sold, is this not a popular model? Just looking for some opinions.

whatever you call it.. but nothing like a used and beat up JV strap on a Luminor base..
