Movement Hands-On Series Episode 2: A Movement Conceived And Made Entirely By The Same Independent Watchmaker
Welcome to the second installment in our?Movement Hands-On series, an irregular series of articles where we scrutinize and analyze unique and?interesting?calibers.?In part?one, we took a close look at the highly unusual movement of the MB&F HM6 Space Pirate here,?and today, we continue with the work of another - although in some important?ways?very different - independent watchmaker.Whereas the?high-end watch industry has for long been?largely based on?the co-operation between?specialist craftsmen C working either within the company or at external suppliers C when it comes to independents, most all of the tasks are performed in-houseand for just a handful of independent watchmakers, those tasks are performed not by dozens or even a few, but by just one craftsman. Thoughts on the 2254....
What is everyone's thoughts of this newly retired SMP? Was it a mistake on Omega's part to retire this watch? What are the reasons? Slow sales? As an owner of this great watch, I think it's kind of bitter sweet that I won't be seeing this watch in AD's. It's always great to see your watch in the display case even when you have it on your very own wrist. It reminds me of all the great classic Omega dive watches such as the 300 that influenced the likes of the 2254......I think of all SMP's that are made by Omega the 2254 looks more like a tool watch than any other SMP's.
