Romain Jerome Titanic DNA Tourbillon Steampunk Ala Grande Limited Edition Watch
The newest Titanic DNA watch from Romain Jerome expressly indicates what it is, "Steampunk." Instead of just hinting at the idea and playing with the concept, this watch has "Steampunk" in the name, and fashions the watch as such. Granted, a lot of the steampunk appointments of the watch are for show only, it still looks pretty cool. The watch starts with an RJ 2 automatic tourbillon movement that has a very cool anchor shaped rotor. The movement is made by Concepto for Romain Jerome and is a new level of luxury being a tourbillon movement that is self-winding.The Tourbillon Steampunk Ala Grande is 50mm wide with a case that is made of steel (rusted, satin finished, and polished), titanium, and rubber. The case makes rich use of rivets, 80 of them that are hand applied all over the bezel (meant to look like old-timey boiler room equipment), as well as the iconic six sided screws in the case that are attached to the polished steel "claws." Watch magnetized at airport??
Following a recent business trip to Europe, I found that one of my watches began running fast, really fast. I carried 4 watches on my trip, Rolex Sub Ceramic (which I wore on my wrist on the airplane and through all security points) and a Vacheron Constantin Patrimony, Patek Philippe 5146G Annual Calendar and AP 15202ST in a watch roll that was put through the x-ray machines. After returning from this trip, my VC was running fast by about 1 minute per day. The rest were running fine. I took the watch in to VC today and they confirmed that the watch was magnetized and was running 1 minute/day fast. Fortunately, they were able to demagnetize it free of charge and it is running within spec again. They suggested that the most probably culprit was going through security at the airport. Has anyone experienced this before? Where a watch got magnetized and began keeping erratic time? Case 1. BLNR is going to be discontinued!!!- Some owners : No...my watch is being discontinued..? I know there's nothing that can be done about it...but it's somewhat disappointing & depressing.- Some owners : YES!! The value of my watch will now go up!! Too many people already have BLNR in their possession anyway...It's about time that Rolex discontinued the BLNR.- Pursuers : NO!!! This can't be !!! For whatever reasons (On a waitlist, collecting money, etc.) I regret I couldn't get my hand on it earlier...Oh I envy the owners (grinds teeth)Case 2. 116710 BLNR discontinued, but is going to be updated to 126710 with new movement- Most of the owners : NO !!!
