In Turbulence: The Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon
Contributed by Dvid BrednTourbillons have come a long way during the past 200+ years of their existence. That time has proven sufficient to provide major ups and downs C and more than one full life cycle for this fairy invention.Beyond those everyday complications which we take for granted, such as the date and the chronograph, I believe it is the tourbillon that remains for the beginner watch lover to get acquainted with. This statement should hold true even more so if considering the latter years of the new millennium, when it has become extremely difficult to find a brand which wouldn't want to take the (continuously waning) advantage of the tourbillon in terms of distinguishing power. Before discussing causes briefly, let's quote Jerome Lambert, chief executive of Jaeger-LeCoultre: "A tourbillon is a must; if you're a watchmaker now, you have to be able to master one complication and it has to be the tourbillon, because it is very visible". In his words to the New York Times he al
Rolex trade for Omega?
I have had a TT Datejust model 1601 Rolex for years. I bought it used and it is a 1972 model that has jsut been serviced. A Gentleman would like to trade me his Seamaster Professional Automatic + $200.00 for the Rolex. He just had the Omega serviced. I have never owned an Omega. Is this a good trade? I have vision problems and I can really see the Seamaster as well as any watch I have looked at. Thanks

Buying PAM w/o instruction & warranty booklet
Hey guys,I'm thinking about purchasing a PAM that comes with neither the instruction nor warranty booklet. The price is accordingly lower by about 400. Seller is well-regarded on this forum, so I don't have any concerns. I will not be trading this watch. Any reason why I should not take this bite?
16613,16713, or 16623. I can't make up my mind.
I want to add a professional/sports Rolex to my collection. My problem is, I can't decide which one I finally want to buy!! 16613, blue or black really doesn't matter to me. The TT Sub is a great want, and it's a very popular watch. The only thing I require is that it has a gold through clasp. I found a full set (blue) that I really like at what I feel is a fair price. But I also really like the 16713. 16713 .. My love for aviation draws me to the 16713. It's a really cool watch and I like the 24 hour hand and the ability to keep time in separate time zones. 16623 .. I love the Rolex Day Date and Datejust models because they are classy and elegant. They are timeless, and for me, they can be worn with Brioni or jeans and a tee shirt. The subs and gmt's can't (at least they can't for me) So what I love about the 16623 is that it has the rugged appeal of the subs and gmt's, but they also have the class and elegance of the DD's and the DJ'sSo I can't make up my mind. I want my cake and eat
